Really good perspective and the water distortions turn this into an "impressionist" shot. Having been bored by TE for a long time, I'm enjoying looking through your shots.

You have a great eye for this kind of shot. I love the composition and balance in this.

Hi Marine
I was browsing through your portfolio, and this one caught my eye! I like the original, although I have a tendancy to prefer off centre subjects. I tried a workshop to explain what I mean - I hope you aren't offended!

I love the effect, although quite a bit of post processing I would suspect. As a graphic, this is a great creation. That shadow plying against the textures at the top - nice.

Really cool shot - so much atmosphere and taken from a clever angle. Unique approach to this subject!

know the place well - from my childhood holidays!
Where is the red/white stripey tower?
To be honest, I only remember Sandymount when the tide was out - so this scene is not so familiar. I recall acres of sand in which to make sandcastles and images - it was such a fun place. Thx for the memories!

And what is really curious for me is that this car in Ireland has a Japanese parking permit in the back window - wow - travelled a long way!

Fantastic composition, and the stillness of that water is absolute magic.

A delightful story about your parents (despite your slightly sad tone towards the end), and a beautiful picture of them in the WS! So charming and full of l.o.v.e.!
Looking forward to seeing 70th anniversary shot next year!
I actually wrote a critque on the image - somehow it all seemed so irrelevant so I deleted it!

This is interesting - I didn't like the thumbnail, but I clicked anyway. I was really very warmly surpised by the delicacy of detail.
So, what didn't I like? I thought the tree was too central. In a way, I still do, but the detail is so exquisite that it is less obvious to me - I get lost (in a good way) in the outlines, and the colour is so rich that I find it harder to criticise.
The other appealing aspect is that sharp detail offset by the very unsharp sky. The cloud formation provides a great contrast.
I did copy this picture and played with cropping. I found that having the tree offset to the right got me to a place where I was happy. You are the artist though, and due respect for your interpretation of the scene - and hats off to a fine picture!
