Looks like you've got a hair or something on the lens; note the line in the sky on the right side of the picture.

The colors are good, but the composition isn't very interesting. The view here is straight at the building, so it looks almost perfectly flat. Perhaps incorporating the road on the right as more of a foreground element would help lead viewers into the image, or getting closer and getting a more dramatic perspective would help.

I like your choice with the square crop here, the composition complements it. Good contrast range and interesting subject. Interesting architecture, at first I thought it had far too many windows to be defensible, then I saw that the entire castle sits on top of ramparts (visible at the left edge of the photo).

The lighting on this is great. I enjoyed this same view but had crap lighting so it's great to see how this same view looks under better conditions!
The image looks a little soft on my monitor, hopefully nothing a little sharpening can't fix. The edge of the tower wall is a little distracting, but you can't crop it out without losing that great reflection.

To answer your question, yes, the sun burns out too much at the upper left corner. There is also some odd coloring at upper right, maybe because of the lens flare. But I think this is still a great photo and can be saved easily. Recommend you crop out the uppoer portion of the photo, just below the top of the ridgeline. This does keep some of the sun, but I think it helps set the mood for the photo and some of it should be kept. Alternatively, you could crop the top as well as some of the left side of the photo, leaving just a little space beyond the edge of the jetty. The lighting and the effect on the rest of the photo is great, just too much sun!

Nice composition and use of selective focus to bring our attention to the one guard. I'm only giving this one point rather than two because the color saturation is too much -- the red garments really pop, which is nice, but the skin tones are unnaturally ruddy. The one unfocused rifle (musket?) at bottom center is a little distracting, not much you can do about it unfortunately.
