He didn't lose out...His has much depth, it's just not the type that you choose to see.
I can say, somewhat interesting buildings, but what have you brought to the table? Whether we choose to acknowledge it or not, photographs have context and his photo was in the context of a different time. Also, the quality...the quality of tone and print is so far beyond that of a cell phone; what depth do you expect to show with such a lack of tonal quality?
You've proved a point; a low quality cell phone can SEE the same scene that a high quality large format camera sees...but, a low quality cell phone cannot show the same scene that that large format camera shows. There is a vital difference.

Incredible photography. That face, that face so frozen amongst the swirl of light. What eyelashes to catch subtle kisses...
It's easily a fave for me...looks like some pixelation, hopefully that solved when seen in full strength.

Dear, this is enough for me...I, now, know it is OK. We stick our heads out from under the covers, grumble and get up with the day...again, one more time, if only to have some coffee and grumble some more. Once in a while though, we come upon the unexpected beauty that hides from us most days. It could be a conversation, a smile, a quick turn of phrase from a passing stranger. This suprise could come from the discovery of a book, a picture, a thought or whisper...it could come from walking into a room and realizing that there are others in that room with you...even if you can't see them, because, when you are loved, even at your lonliest, there is always someone thinking of you.

Hey Ben, been a little while. Love this shot, incredibly distinctive. The flash-lit colors and yellowed background make for an interesting contrast to the normal saturated fare...It's sometimes easy to fall into the more outright visually pleasing photogaphs, but I find it is much more rewarding to tackle the soul through the banal real world

Incredible panning, I love the contrast here. to me, it's best that there is nothing particularly sharp...it would render the photo too ordinary. In your presentation, we have a surreal blur of movement and the speeding eyes meant to catch it...

I hate to correct George, but it was the subway in Washington DC...I know, I kick myself that I didn't see it. I mean, I know I would have reacted differently. I've spent hours, missing numerous trains, watching a doowop group performing in a local subway station. It's a f&*king shame...Here, it'sthe same, how come people aren't gathered around? Who knows, boring humanity.
Anyhow, stimulating presentation.
Chris.
