    Apa khabar Abmdsudi,

Labuanbajo is one of my favourite places in the country. Touristic, of course, but it has that lovely atmosphere and it's obvious that they still depend very much on the ocean. So it's great to see a picture from there. I remember I was very lucky with the night sky there. Saw several shooting stars. The sky you had here suits the scattered islands. Creates a beautiful atmosphere with so many different shades of gray...and so many different kind of clouds. It's clearly peaceful.

    Terima kasih,
    Fredrik

    Hi Ian.

This was very interesting to see. I hope to go back to the region next year and this will be certainly be something to keep in mind. I hadn't heard about this before. So thanks for sharing, I just learned something new.

    Hi Gilbert.

I had a quick look through your gallery. For a traveller like me, it's interesting to see your photos from all kinds of exotic countries. They're good ones, too. The colours and sharpness are excellent. Hope to see some more. Thanks!

    Hi Jimmy.

First, thank you so much for your recent critiques to my photos. It means something coming from you. As I look through your gallery there's one treasure after another. Maybe I can make a book if I end up visiting all the independent countries? I very much like the idea of making a book. For now I'm just playing with ideas for a personal travel inspiration book with photos, drawings, statistics, quotes from my travels, recipes and so on.

I think you could easily join me on the book you're anticipating, judging by this photo. I'm a big fan of minimalism and this is excellent executed. Perfect light and well done spotting the symmetry.

    Thanks,
    Fredrik

Hi John. How unfortunate with the weather. I'm glad you managed to enjoy the trek though. The landscape up there is breathtaking. Your photo has a good depth and I quite like it. Hard to get a good shot in that kind of conditions. Nice of you to include the link to my dad's photo from our trip 12 years ago. It's indeed sad to see how fast the glacier is shrinking.

    Hi Rob.

How nice to see a picture from Blönduós here on TE! I remember passing this town, stopped there twice for fuel. But I didn't take time to see more of the town than what's visible from the main road. Can't remember this church. Technically it's a good photo in difficult light conditions. The church really stands out. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Neil.

That's interesting to find a photo from Tristan da Cunha. Always wanted to visit, but it takes quite some dedication. A week on the boat, no? Must have been a wonderful experience. Also happy to see you made it all the way to the former Norwegian outpost of Grytviken. What a trip!

    Hi Kasia.

We really think the same way, haha! I rented a car with some friends, we parked and slept in the car in a parking space just outside Vik. I remember we could see this church from the car. I also reflected on the cold. I was there in April and it wasn't snowing that night, but I woke up a few times. As for your photo, smart use of the blitz to capture the snowflakes. A beautiful Christmas card photo. And a good note, as usual. Thanks!

    Hi Malgo.

Again, I haven't really gone deep into your gallery before. I got curious when I saw you have some photos from Peru. I went there this July and was blown away by the amazing people and attractive culture. Also, I'm a mountain lover, so Peru was just perfect. I didn't have the time to visit Pisac unfortunately, but I heard good words from the people who went there. I figured if I only have time to see one of the ruins, it had to be Machu Picchu.

You're good at writing notes. What a story behind this one! I admire that courage. You really sound like my kind of traveller. Well done on planning to be there on the market day.

This picture is Peru in a nutshell. Great composition, colours... Thanks for sharing.

    Olá Ricardo.

Thanks for sharing this evening shot from Recife. I was lucky to spend a few days in your country last month and I was positively surprised. I'm not a beach person, but the beaches are top class. It looks like you found the right exposure time for this one. Hard to balance the dark sea and the apparently always busy road. The sky also seemed to play on your team. Maybe you could cut away the upper 1/5 of the photo or so, but nonetheless a great photo. Thanks.

    Hi Serge.

Somehow the light seems to have been perfect. Beautiful reflections too. The balloon adds the extra touch that fulfills this composition. Without the balloon, it may have been smart to go for the panorama. All in all, a very pleasant photo to look at.

    Hi Craig.

You have a lot of beautiful photos from Iceland! This is the kind of scenery that most countries would advertise and quickly transform into a tourist hotspot. Iceland too, I guess. But as you say, you find this scenery wherever you go up there, so you'll always manage to find spots that are mostly unspoiled. Both on the main road and on the side roads.

I second to your comment about renting a car in Iceland. It's truly the best way to explore this island nation.

    Best regards,
    Fredrik

    Hi Gyorgy.

I recently read somewhere that Slovakia is the country with the highest concentration of castles. That's a very little known fact. Most people flock to other countries in the vicinity, while Slovakia is often overlooked. This castle in the photo is certainly a sight for the eye. The dramatic sky adds the extra touch. I also like the choice of making it B&W.

    Hi Kasia.

I noticed you have a lot of photos from Nepal before and after the earthquake. Thanks for sharing, it does give a good impression of how it used to be. I was there three months after the earthquake and obviously, there was a big damage, but daily life was back. The lack of tourists at that time was devastating for the local economy, though.

These photos from the lake are very pleasant to watch, they give a good insight into the village life. The composition is well managed here.

    Dzien dobry Malgo.

I imagine this is taken quite near the tunnel. I was there myself in November two years ago, but it was pouring rain all day and I couldn't see much more than a few meters up the hillside. I was going to skip it as we have fjords in Norway. I figured this wouldn't be very different, but with a Malaysian in the car, I simply wasn't allowed to let this pass.

I have to say the fjord itself didn't impress me too much, but I could see the mountains were very majestic. This picture confirms my impression. Beautiful colours and perfect composition. It's a pleasure going through your NZ photos.

I'm glad to see Sembalun Valley still looks the same after the earthquakes. I rented a scooter and drove past there in June, through the national park. It's really a piece of heaven. You present a good technical photo, nicely framed, well managed.

I send my thoughts to Lombok and the ones hit by the earthquakes.

    Hi Jean.

My first thought: Is this place suitable for volcano boarding, perhaps? It very much looks so. Just a business idea if any locals are reading this. As of today, only two destinations offer that experience. And frankly, Vanuatu isn't the most accessible country. Nicaragua is far away. It would be a good way to tempt me I know.

It's interesting to see that Cabo Verde has more than beaches and picturesque villages. The volcanoes are also a sight. Thanks!

    Hola Pedro.

I was there two years ago and this definitely brings back good memories. San Ignacio was a vibrant town and it helped giving me a very good impression of Belize. This photo may be a bit dark, but I see the light conditions weren't on your side. It does the job showing the colourful main street of a city that I think deserves the attention. For the record, there are three hostels in town. I had a great time staying in Pak Tun Ha Hostel. It's easy to get here from other parts of Belize and also from Flores in Guatemala. I was a bit luckier with the light conditions I see. Maybe I'll post a photo from there soon.

    Hi Chris.

This one is so strikingly similar to one of my pictures that I just had to comment. I did this same ferry ride earlier this summer and I will probably post pictures at a later point. The beauty of that landscape was impressive and at times it could remind me of the fjords here in Norway. You pressed the shutter at the right time; this was one of the most appealing places along the ride. The exposure and composition is good.
