    Witaj Zbigniew,

You chose a beautiful angle to maximize the number color guard and the majestic building serving as the backdrop. I imagine Genghis Hahn is one of the equestrians, who is the other?

    Hello Craig,
This is a really neat photo of the New One World Trade Center shot with an extremely wide angle lens. The three-point perspective is accentuated with the towers appearing to converge high in the sky. I haven't been as close to the building as you have, but I did take close up shots of the two World Trade Center Buildings in the 1990s. The black building in the rear right is the Millennium Building that was badly damaged but restored after the 9/11 tragedy.

In the photo of mine that you critiqued, the staircase is laid out horizontally. Each "floor" is an actual "room." The woman in the photo (my wife) simply walked into room 3-4 as I was getting ready to take the photo.

    Regards,
    Bulent

    Hello Swiatek,

I love this profile of the man framed by a window. Indeed, I will stash it away among my favorites, and maybe even open a new group theme of portraits in windows. The mudbrick walls, the colours and textures, the man's winning smile all collaborate to make this an excellent photo. I took a similar photo in Cairo a few years ago: Watching the World Go By, but it is not at all as interactive as yours.

    Warm regards,

    Hello Rob,

Fabulous image with the near silhouette of the man standing against a compelling background. I will file it away in that group theme. A Dutch friend who is married to a heart surgeon shared a photo of a heart with all the blood vessels filled with a red plastic reminiscent of this photo.

I thought for sure that Trekearth had gone off and left us high and dry. No way to get to our photos or to photos posted by friends. I am glad it's back. The site may have been hacked.

    Hi Gert,

Here I think you celebrated the verticality and the steep grade of the scene. The presence of the people certainly was a wise decision. What is especially successful here is the depth of field. The shrubbery in the foreground is seen with high resolution as are the details of the twin steeples.

Incidentally, I want to thank you for taking the time to write the email to me regarding the state of affairs in "those" police states we had mentioned. I suspect one or two more should be added to the list of "Corruption perception index."

    Hello Abmdsudi,

I like the composition with a symmetric view of the courtyard and the couple positioned perfectly in the frame. It would have been good to see their feet, but they we would not have seen the full extent of the facade.

    Bonjour, mon cher ami Philippe,

The famous Chateau de Nemours, I had heard of it but had not seen any photos before. With the swans swimming lazily in the water, it is compelling composition. The light was ideal to capture the colors and textures of the structure.

    Bonjour Clodo,

Two or three things I must comment about: having the couple in the photo as viewers is essential; they are not elderly. And the screen is a golden rectangle in the proportions 1.0 to 1.618; it has been divided into a square, leaving the rest, "Age Perfect," as a golden rectangle. And, indeed, Helen Mirren, appears ageless and beautiful.

    Warm regards,

    Hello Gyorgy,

This is an excellent study in reflections and refractions. It works especially well in black and white, and also because of the subject, the Palace of Culture and Science.

Incidentally, in the "optical illusion" embodied in my last post, the staircase is laid out horizontally, with each floor actually a room. The woman in the photo (my wife) simply walked into room 3-4.

    Hello Paul,

Are the flames representative of the oil and tar fields? It's a very effective nighttime photo where you've managed the light ideally. I have not visited the Ukraine in the past 6-7 years, certainly not since Crimea was annexed by the Putin. I wonder what the prevailing feeling is in Kiev?

    Hello Chris,

There is an excellent panoramic scene, the animals minimizing exertion in the 45°C. In June, 2013 I was at virtually the same spot on a much cooler 35°C day. You essay is engaging and one that I can identify with.
