I can see we have a lot in common in terms of the types of landscapes that we enjoy photographing, Mariusz. I would love to have this one in my own gallery because it is exactly as I would have framed it, and you have executed it perfectly. A1 technically, great DOF and excellent use of the grad filter. I think the red plants in the foreground are Anarthrophyllum Defideratum (commonly known as the Neneo Plant). They add a fabulous foreground POI which is often hard to find in wide-angle landscape photographs.

This looked outstanding in the thumbnail, Siamak, but was somewhat disappointing when I opened it up as it lacks sharpness. I like the composition and light, but at f/5.6 1/400 the image should be much sharper than this. I note you have uploaded it at a very low quality (79kb) so I am guessing that is the problem. If there is no problem with the original, then perhaps you could sharpen the image and upload it at a higher quality to the Workshop (for a photograph as potentially as good as this one I would upload it at 800 pixels, instead of 600, and not less than 200kb). I bet that made you jump, Mario! But the fallen tree adds an interesting perspective to this lovely trail scene with all the fall colors. I think the image could have done with a little more sharpening, and I would have preferred to see your POV a little off-centre, but the latter point is more of a personal preference. Cheers . . . I spotted this in your randoms, Ryan, and immediately thought it was an HDR image. But after reading your PP update, I am now enlightened. Some days I yearn to go back to film when I see the results that can be achieved. I can't add much to what has already been written above in the well-deserved critiques for this magnificent image. One of many in your superb gallery that you can be proud of. Cheers . . . David

This turned out quite well for a through-the-aircraft-window shot, Chris. I guess you must have had the light behind you because the colour saturation is quite strong. During the day many of these aerial shots would look quite washed out. Good there were no clouds in the foreground too. Cheers . . . David

I like this better than the original, Steven, even though some might feel it is over-saturated. The blue hour at Shwedagon really can look like this. I have a similar shot taken at the blue hour when I was still using film, and it is one of my all-time favourite photos. Shwedagon is one of my favourite places too - I have spent hours there just watching the people go about their worship. Excellent technical quality. I must go back there one day with my digital camera. Cheers . . . David

Yes you are right, Jamie, there's not much going on in this photo, but the light is superb and that more than makes up for the lack of an exciting subject. It is nevertheless a very well composed photograph and excellent light management and use of the ND filter. Cheers . . . David

I don't see anything wrong with the quality of this shot, Carlos. Although it is posed, and 'ordinary' in terms of its composition, the lovely smiles of the two kids on the left carry it. (I would have been tempted to crop out the boy on the right - although some might think that would be unkind, I think your photograph would have had more impact without him). Cheers . . . David

Wow, this is quite spectacular, Didier - a three hours exposure . . . amazing! I've never tried any astronomical photography - I guess (as alluded to in your note) you need special equipment like a tracking mechanism to achieve such clarity and definition. I suppose too you can only do it from a part of the world where there is not too much air pollution.

Hi Indranil. This shot captures the atmosphere of this lakeside town very nicely, and I like the reflections of the boat in the water. Yes, the over-exposure on the white buildings is a bit distracting. I usually bracket my shots in bright light like this to give me the option to do some work on the image in PP. In this situation using curves (or even the more basic shadow/highlights tool) on selected parts of the image could have overcome the exposure problems here (and even helped to bring out a little more detail of the passengers in the boat). Cheers . . . David

There seems to be a lot of noise in this image, Manuel, to the point where the sky is hard to differentiate from the ocean, but actually I don't mind that because it makes this photograph look like a painting. If I had been shooting this, I would probably have cropped it just above the LH palm tree, but again I don't mind the square format that you have presented us with here because it adds to that 'painting' look (painters never seem to worry about the thirds rule!) Cheers . . . David

I somehow don't associate Italy with snow, Luciano, (I suppose that's because I have only been to Italy in the summer) so I was surprised to see so many winter pics from Italy in your gallery. I like this one in particular because of the light, the soft colours and your low POV which provides an interesting and 'icy' foreground. Cheers . . . David

This looks quite different full frame compared to the thumbnail, Tony - the flowers are not evident until it is opened. Compositions like this often don't work because the foliage of the tree blocks too much of the background view, but this one's okay because the lower branches in the middle are bare and don't block any key features. The main trunk provides a nice curve to lead the eye towards the background view. Cheers . . . David

Until I saw this photograph, Frank, I didn't realise that you could grow bananas in Switzerland. I guess they are just grown for the foliage there, and not the fruit. The DOF is quite amazing for f/4. I wonder why you went for such a fast shutter speed on this? I would have shot this at f/8 at 1/125 (or something close to that) to maximise the DOF. The image also feels to me like it could do with a perspective adjustment, but you would have had to shoot slightly wider to do that and not lose the top of the clump of bananas. Sorry I'm being so picky, but it's still a good post as is. Cheers . . . David
