To PJE: Sharpness

Thanks for the comment.

I looked at the image again, and have to agree that it could do with some more sharpness. The original image is pin sharp. The image posted was processed, posted online...

To jafadabret: Merci

Merci beaucoup.

My French is very poor, so I will write in English.

Thanks for your critique and for the workshop. It looks a lot sharper. I did try that myself, but preferred the softer image....

Visiting Utah nation parks

Hi,

I'm planning to travel to the US in March, and visit some of the national parks, like Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands, Arches etc.

Any tips/advice? What is especially of note, what definitely not...

Re: Model Release Forms

The law on such will vary from country to country. It also depends on your use of the photograph - commercial or non-commercial. Best to check the laws of the place you are visiting.

To AdrianW: Critic

Adrian,

There's always a critic !!! LOL

I really wanted to keep the image as natural as possible, so didn't really play with it in Photoshop. I took 4 shots of the scene. While 2 of the others...

Re: To paulw: hi paul,

You know, in such a modern world, and with people living all over, you just never know. I've certainly heard a think Irish accent from someone who's of asian origin before. :-)

The joy of a global...

To MadraRua: 40D

Hey,

thanks for the critique.

I was really pleased with this photo. Of the images I took on the day, I think this was the best. You can't compose photos of racing, so there will always be...

To carper: Size

Thanks for the critique.

I didn't have the larger file size handy, so just posted that one. I do have it in a much larger format, on my FlickR account (username PaulWa).

Re: Canon EOS 40D; due September 20th

Well, I splashed out and bought one (from Hong Kong). I had a 20D, so this is my upgrade. Initial impressions - WOW. It's brilliant. Much larger LCD and much clearer. Much faster focusing. 6.5 fps...

Re: To branley: Navy

Stephen,

No, not at all. :-)

We do have a small navy, but a proud one.

Many don't realise that we are still one of the few naval services that design and build their own vessels.

To branley: Navy

Stephen,

Ireland has a very proud naval service. Almost all of our naval ships were designed and built in Ireland. They were specifically designed for coastal and fisheries protection. Some of the...

Re: LOWEPRO Slingshot 200 ou 300?

I have the 20D so the body is the very same.

I think you really need the 300 to carry all your equipment. It also has space for growth, for when you buy more. :-)

While the 300 is quite a...

Re: Pet Oysters

Interesting posting. That dog photo is very different. I wonder has anyone posted a similar image of a cat?? There's bound to be someone, somewhere who eats cat.

Re: Turkish cat photos

I wonder how many Turkish Cat images will be removed now that they are getting attention, especially since many don't show much more than a cat.

Some cat photos I think should be allowed to stay -...

Re: LOWEPRO Slingshot 200 ou 300?

I have the Slingshot 300 and think it's great. I have very similar lenses to yours.

Mine will hold everything needed. I can put it in with the 24-70mm lens attached or even with the 70-200mm lens...

I live in Ireland. We have no buildings higher than 14 stories. So, a skyscraper is not in every country. On my very first visit to the US I was stunned by the high skyscrapers.

Some countries...

Re: WHY WHY WHY??

It most probably should have been posted on TrekLens.

What does a cat tell us about the country etc, unless the cat is specific to the country or something like that?

Re: Tele for my Canon 400D

I have the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS lens and find it brilliant. Add to that a 2x extender, and you can cover a large range. A wonderful combination.

Just make sure that you hold/carry the lens...

Re: Framing photos ...

While some frames add to the image, many distract the view of the image. Also, the terms of service on TE say that you are only allowed use plain frames.

Andrew,

I totally agree with you. It is so hard to get good photos of this. The kite does tend to be a good distance away from the surfer. I managed to catch a few images last Fri, since the...

Re: Somebody could help me...?

Quickest answer - do a google search for CCD V CMOS. You'll find hundreds of sites explaining the difference.

Re: Product Shots... What Lens?

A few factors to consider - your distance from the objects and how much of the shot you want to fill.

Any lens would do. Maybe 24-70mm L
