Default can anyone help me with framing techniques??

i am more into the photography side of things as oppose to the editing side of things, but after seeing some of the beautiful borders with the title of the pictures within them here on TE i cant help but want to give my photos the same treatment. i use PS CS but is there a standalone program i can use after i have done my editing on the original pic? please give me any lessons jargon free.

There are some stand-alone programs, but you can make your own with PS CS. You need to use the Canvas Size and the Stroke.

Canvas Size is under Image on the tool bar. To access the dialogue box, either click Image and the Canvas Size, or hold down the Ctrl, Alt and C keys at the same time. Select the colour you want, then create a canvas of the size you want.

Stroke is found under Edit. To activate it, you need to select the entire photo first (hold down the Crtl key and press A at the same time). Select the colour you want your Stroke to be, then gor Edit>Stroke. Control the width and position of the stroke using the dialogue box that will pop up when you click Stroke. Stroke will create a coloured line around the photo, between the puicture and the canvas.

You can type on the canvas if you want to add a title.

This will take a little experiment to get effects you want. Good fun :).

In the dialogue box for Canvas Size you can set the size of the canvas. If you set the canvas to be smaller than the photo, it will 'nudge' into the image.
