Great klennon79 2006-08-25 8:44

Hi Josh.
This is a very nice evening photo. I like how the star-shaped lights glow against the blue sky. Nice sharpness and exposure. I have played with night photography a bit--it is not easy. I think you have done a nice job here.

Default To klennon79: night photography and thank you

Thank you very much for your comment!

It seems that both my comments so far reference how hard night photgraphy is. While I like my photo, I assume that there are a few things that stand out as "beginner mistakes." Thats good, since I am a beginner.

However, I was wondering if you could share a few pointers that you have learned in your time as a night photographer. I had a quick look at your photos and saw some really lovely night shots. I could learn a lot from you.

Hi Josh.

You are really kind, thank you. I actually learned a lot from
username: Rosaline. You should check out his night photography, it is incredible!

Anyway, here is what I learned from "Rosaline."

In terms of ISO, if you have a tripod, use 100-200 ISO (this is to reduce noise) Although you do not have any noise in your photo.

For the aperture, use f8 or f11 for quality.

"Rosaline" also suggests a neutral density filter for more precise exposure.

His advice really helped me!

I mentioned that night photography was hard because I was impressed by your photo--not that there were any mistakes with yours :) Your photo is quite beautiful.

Take care.
