Default Re: Which language?

I follow you....

Imagine.

One chooses a country name from a dropdown (dialed down by letters entered). I want to post a picture from Nepal so I type 'N' and all the N-countries appear. I type "e" and the list shortens.....

Now I want to enter the city name (Pokhara) so I type "P" and the P-cities/locations appear. Then 'o'....

If I don't get what I want (Pokhara has never been added to the database) then I have the option of clicking on a 'Not Found' box and typing in "Pokhara". At this point Pokhara becomes a temporary choice awaiting approval by 'them what approves'.

Make it easy to choose the appropriate.

Make it a bit more difficult to add the new.

Perhaps the new owners (are there new owners?) will be receptive....

It's certainly a mess now for those of us who use the site to research places to travel.

Default Location moderation feature

Adam replied to my mail saying:

"A location moderation feature is being worked on which should beavailable in September."

I wonder how this moderation feature will look like. We'll just have to wait... Be patient :-)

Greetings,
Thomas

"A location moderation feature is being worked on which should be available in September." (Adam)

I was hoping to see a new "locations-system", but nothing changed until now...

Thomas,

often, things seem easier to change (in a user point of view) than they really are. Believe me, I use to own and admin a discussion forum and know a little bit about php & MySql...

Bonjour Thomas,

First I wanted to say that I already checked the names you gave and I could see that most were corrected already. I just changed "Planckendael" and a few others...
Then, I must say I completely agree with your point of view. Thing is that when Adam began his site about 5 years ago he wasn't yet able to begin with a proper geographic data, it was very expensive at the time. So he gave everybody the possibility to enter the names.

I've become a location admin so I have a tool to make corrections on locations and provinces - [but I can't change countries yet] - I use it mostly for the lists of France, where I was born, and Holland where I live. But I still keep asking people to follow the rules I made toegether with Adam, see forum.

Please ask me whenever you want about changes and corrections for the time being.
Adam is working hard on the problem though and I'm sure we'll soon get "cleaner" lists.

Amical bonjour de Tholen - Viviane

Hi,
Belgium is also a special case as most cities have two official names...Wallon (French)and Flemish...
Adds to the problem!
