Great Royaldevon 2016-02-15 5:45

Hello Ann,

Have you read Monica Ali's 'Brick Lane'?
I had never really heard of the area until I read that book about 12 years ago!

Your photograph has captured and portrayed an area and a mood.
You had a very tight scene to deal with but, in some ways, it has helped to condense and magnify the effect. The graffiti is random and vibrant, whilst the litter suggests decay and disrespect! A place to explore at daytime but maybe, threatening at night!

Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Default To Royaldevon: Brick Lane

Thanks Bev,
I have not read the book but following your note I searched it out on the internet. The reviews are generally good and looks an interesting read. Incredibly, right behind me was a tour guide explaining to some people the 'hidden meanings' behind the graffiti. The history of this area is fascinating and the food in the Sunday street market exceptional.
Best wishes, Ann
