Perhaps a really good question is 'who on TE considers themselves not to be really good as a photographer?'

honest answers only please .......OK - rib ticklers are allowed too!!
  • Re: Who s really a good photographer in TE ??
could you repeat the question please?
  • Re: Who s really a good photographer in TE ??
could we -please- talk about Rugby?
  • Re: Who s really a good photographer in TE ??
David, NO! I'm an Aussie and this week we're DEFINITELY not talking rugby! And Kev, I definitely don't considder myself a good photographer, and judging by my scant amount of critiques neither does anyone else. But you are definitely up there among the best.
    Best regards, Steve.

Whoops! `Sorry about the rugby!!!!!! Close thing though! Just been talking about it all over a beer.

My take on the good photographer thing is we probably all reach moments in what we do where we think we have reached some sort of level
where we 'allow' ourselves a goodness rating but the more we progress and see others work we also realise how far that continuum of goodness extends beyond us into the future of our practice..........that's why maybe I think it's best to assess these things really further down the line........don't hold too much by the critiques thing though - it's all mediated by so many other factors than by how good people are as photographers........one of the things that makes us better is the time we have to spend exploring .......people with more time may explore more..............

Personally - I'm a critical practitioner - very rarely satisfied with any image in and of itself ........if I do a good job to a task I'm reasonably satisfied.......if I achieve an image i'm half proud of in my personal meanders through life I'm happy too........but to have the time to study photography.......to undertake longer commissions or tasks.......well that may make of me a more creative and competent photographer one day.........

    best wishes Kev

'Who on TE considers themselves not to be really good as a photographer?'
Me. Furachan. From Day 1 I have considered myself an "impostor" on this site. It is partly why I DELETE as serially as I do...;o) Often I have to slap myself when I get certain positive critiques - it feels like they're written about somebody else.
My resorting to hip and chest high shots from time to time, and the resulting "drubbing" I get for that in certain quarters certainly doesn't help.
    But we soldier on, eh...?

To which question are you making reference to O questioner?
  • Re: Who s really a good photographer in TE ??
    ..........................my point exactly!!!!!!!!!
  • Re: Who s really a good photographer in TE ??
Well, from the galleries I have browsed, I find five persons
    1. Oochapen from Belgium
    2. Isabela_sor from Romania
    3. Lonelywolf from Poland
    4. Irina ID from UAE
    5. Jinju from Korea

they all are versatile in their own field.
Oochapen can make any shotat any place. He is a master of lens.
Isabela_sor can come out with calenders everyyear with tiny tots.
Lonelywolf creates magic with mountains and water;landscapes.
One day you will find IrinaID on your TV either in Discovery or Natioonal Geographics.
To know what is B&W and abstractions you need to follow Jinju.

Hope this would help to improve your own photographic skills.
