Great tyro 2018-11-19 4:11

Hello Bev,

What a wonderful subject - and two lovely photographs of it too! And, you know something? This has just reminded me that I need to travel to the other side of Peebles to see if I can photograph a not dissimilar structure - I might try to do that sometime in the next few days if I have the time!

Not only is this a fascinating iron structure from the 19th century but you have captured it superbly well with some interesting shadows, especially in your main shot.

Excellent!

Kind Regards,

John.

P.S. Have you ever looked at that website Geograph.org? It's quite fascinating and some people (probably even more "nerdy" than us) upload photographs from all over the U.K. trying to provide as many photographs as possible for every single O.S. map square! Have a look here!

Default To tyro: Gentlemen Only!

Thank you for your critique, John, and the link.

That link is quite amazing! Everywhere is on view if you know where to look for it!
The photograph of the pissoir was taken before it was renovated. It was in a sad state of repair, though you cannot really tell from that photograph. In fact, it had to be closed as it was unsafe. A restorer was at last found and not only did he repair all the panels, he helped stabilised it by adding the curved 'Gentlemen' signs.

Have a good day, Bev
