Great holmertz 2019-08-04 1:17

Hello Paul,
The photos almost drown under the impact of the events you describe. As an "old India hand" I still follow events in India quite closely (but not as carefully as when I was working), so I was aware of the strikes and conflicts surrounding that temple, but hearing about the practical consequences for a traveller is another thing. But these photos show that you passed through beautiful areas on your long and tedious journey. This view of the lake is magnificent, but I am also fond of the WS of the very attractive pattern made by the tea bushes.
Best regards,
Gert

Default To holmertz: Consequences

Thank you Gert,

The practical consequences for the traveller aren't too bad as long as you're not on a tight schedule.
It just took me more time and more money.

In the past several women have already tried to visit the temple. The first two ladies succeeded on 2 January 2019. This because of a police escort to make the decision of the Supreme Court of India possible.
The insults and threats that women who tried to visit the temple underwent, are much worse.
Sometimes India seems modern in the relationship between men and women. But often women still have a second-rate role.
The reason why women between the ages of 10 and 50 were not allowed to visit the temple is that they were considered unclean ...

Best regards,
Paul
