Photographer’s Note

According to islamic religion, today (9th of March 2009) we have "Mawlid" - birthday of prophet Muhammad.

In Algieria many people celebrate this event using fireworks and petards (evens it's forbidden by law). So don't worry, this is not a fire :)

Hi Maciej,
Very interesting scene with the flares and the street. I always had an image of Algeria as mysterious. I appreciate your images from here and they are fascinating.
