Photographer’s Note
This is the Sidi M'Cid bridge, possibly the most spectacular monument in Constantine, the third largest city of Algeria, situated on a plateau about 80 km from the Mediterranean coast in the northeast of the country.
The Sidi M'Cid bridge, 164 meters wide, spans the deep Rhumel Gorge and was inaugurated in 1912.
This picture from 1975 was scanned from a Kodachrome slide.

Quite the sight here, Gert - this bridge invokes a dizzying feeling in me, as well as lots of respect for the engineering accomplishment that it represents. Nice comprehensive photo to illustrate the location, and I think that the way in which you placed the span at the very top of your frame further enhances the impact. Again a good scanning quality to present this one from your archives.

Hi,
beautiful hanging bridge. Nice POV showing clearly the elevation. Nice clear photo considering the time it was taken. TFS.

Hello Gert
The scan is so good it could pass for being taken today. Dramatic scene with the view in the distance framed by the rock walls and bridge. Tfs, Marlene

Hej Gert,
An amazing bridge and a great shot of it and its surroundings. Good POV and a composition, which emphasizes the depth and ruggedness of the gorge. Again an excellent scan! TFS!

Hi Gert, It is spectacular brigde! It is wide, but what is the hight? Fortunately I do not have to use it. I wouldn't dare to go. I am trembling only thinking about it. Splendid photo - colours, sharpness, difficult to believe it was made such a long time ago.

Hej Gert,
each time I look at the photos taken long ago (and especially in such countries which I have never seen with my own eyes) I ask myself: what has changed since then? but maybe nothing... there are places which do not change or change very slightly and insignificantly.
Very interesting view! very well composed shot... and rather unusual. I wonder if you walked along this bridge? It looks very "giddy" ... and dangerous! I am not sure I would try stepping onto it and walking... :) but I can imagine what kind of perspective spectacular photos one could take from this bridge!
my very best wishes,
Elena

Hi Gert,
Amazing looking bridge. It looks so lightweight above a deep canyon. Background gives a good idea of the high place and lower landscape disappearing into mist.

Hello Gert,
It looks like a timeless picture. I didnt know that this was taken back in 1975 before I looked at the date in the picture details. Good composition with attractive colors.

Hej Gert,
A very beautiful landscape and a very good picture, even though it feels a bit squeezed at the top. The colours are very good, a very fine scan!

Hello Gert
Spectacular setting indeed for the cable bridge. I wonder what would have changed in the last 34 years, though I doubt. Browsed through the Algeria pages but couldn't find any reent post. The quality of the scan is superb.

Angshu
