Photographer’s Note

According to the texts, Buddha received a mango orchard as gift of the courtesan Ambapalito to meditate and probably as a source of income to enable him to concentrate on his mission.
Mango spread with Buddhism as well, reaching during the fifth century BC. J.-C. Malaysia and the Far East. The voyager and Chinese pilgrim Xuanzang has brought it to China on his trip back from India. The Arabs introduced it in the Middle East and Africa.
Nowadays, mango is grown in all tropical and subtropical countries of the world. There are hundreds of different species, only some of which are marketed.

Le manguier se répandra ainsi avec le bouddhisme, atteignant au Ve siècle av. J.-C. la Malaisie puis l'Extrême-Orient. Le voyageur et pèlerin chinois Xuanzang l'aurait ramené en Chine de son voyage en Inde. Les Arabes l'introduisent, quant à eux, au Moyen-Orient et en Afrique.
Aujourd'hui, la mangue est cultivée dans tous les pays tropicaux et subtropicaux du globe, et on en connaît plusieurs centaines d'espèces différentes, dont quelques-unes seulement sont commercialisées. (Wikipedia)

Whats is like interacting with these kids..its more of the gestures the body language..must be a difficult way of life..for those who et associated with an international relief agency..or social organizations..till they pick up the language and the lingo...

Hi Marc, this is one of my favourite portraits on TE. Technically, I think it is superb: sharp, well framed vertically, beautiful DOF. But even better than all that technique is how you have captured this little boy's amazing eyes - a must for any good portrait photographer - and you have done it easily. This is a truly wonderful portrait. I like the angle you've taken it from with the little boy looking up at you so innocently. Perfect sharpness and nice contrast with the almost white background.

Au départ, je trouvais un peu curieux ton choix de POV en plongée qui écrasait un peu l'enfant et; plus je le regarde, plus je suis fasciné par ce regard curieux...ça prouve que tu as fait le bon choix. belle qualité technique de l'image.

Goede morgen Marc,

Aandoenelijke foto, men zou toch meteen gaan doneren als men zoiets ziet. Dat gele stuk mango is trouwens wel de perfecte tint om deze foto naar een hoger plan te liften, brengt meteen contrast en kleur in de foto....zeer fraai.

ses yeux sont si curieux et innocent...il te regard tandis qu'il mange le mango et il semble te dire "quel est ton problem?"

Il a de superbes grands yeux ce gamin, mais il me fait mal au coeur, ainsi pris d'en haut.
