Photographer’s Note
...and that's pretty much how easy it is in West Africa when it comes to what is and what isn't. Black & White, there is no time or energy for most western "crap". It's often refreshing, often very sad.
I've seen alot of great photos from Benin posted here in the past few days so I figured I'd give it a try.
Alot more shots from Benin.

Black and white the concept is nice but the photograph still doesn't have the impact of the word "Black and White". I have done a workshop on this photograph and will be posting it shortly. Since I cant post another workshop(daily limit) right now I am adding the workshop on my website with proper copyright info and you can see it there (assuming i have permission to upload it on my website). I have put it up for now but will remove it as soon as I am able to post it as a workshop!
Good try though... by the way i enjoyed your other photographs too.
keep up the good work n keep Clicking

Hi John,
That's a long time ago that I saw a photograph passing by from your hand! Might have been as well that I was not looking very well ;-).
But nice, love the tight off-center compo here!

A powerful black and white. i think the levels of black and white are good, that 1st guy who made the workshop has no idea what he's doing! (it looks terrible)
So you should be happy with your shot - and especially the expression and the scarification make it memorable.
Cheers!

Excellent composition and strong portrait. I like that the face is only partially included in the frame. There is a tendency for me to want to include the entire head in a portrait but I think cropping as you have done makes for a better impact.

Hi John,
Great close up portrait and great eye contact. Very nice B&W conversion. It's not always easy to take pictures over there.
Nice galery on Pbase BTW.
Well done
