Photographer’s Note

The picture was taken north of Parakou on the main North-South road in Benin, reaching from Cotonou at the Atlantic Ocean to Malanville in the very north.
Being the only all-year road crossing through all Benin, it is crowded with all means of transportation. Although the road is rather narrow, most drivers enjoy the good condition the road is in and thus speed a bit too much - and fall over the edge of the road since on both sides the asphalt formes a step of some 5 to 15cm for the earth has been washed away by heavy rain.

Shortly before the picture was taken, the yellow truck had fallen over, most probably due to speeding. So some steel cable was organised, a couple of trucks were coordinated and the fallen truck was pulled back onto the road.
By lucky chance I pictured the very moment, the truck was on the brink of falling back. I was just crossing the street, walking rather fast since other trucks and cars were passing by.

Tough Traffic, as I said.
