Photographer’s Note
In order to understand that picture, I should mention two things:
First it was taken in 2002, when digital cameras were far from standard, even in Germany. In Benin, where the picture was taken, they probably had hardly ever been seen before
Second it was taken in a small, remote village, where rain forest meets seasonal forest. Probably most villagers had seen white people before or at least heared of them but in order to explain just how remote the village was, I would like to add only one fact: the only person in the village wearing shoes was the elder - flip flops.
Anyway, so we were pretty much of a sensation there and all, the children, the other villagers and we ourselves had a great time but for the children seeing themselves on the displays of our digital cameras was pure faszination.

I cannot imagine how such a beautiful shot got lost, the joy on the kids faces, the wonder and happiness is great(I still get it with people in India!)
A excellent capture and a beautiful story , I wish I had more than 2 points.
Thanks for sharing

It is a facinating picture...
the happiness on the faces is evident and so is the surprize.. i know what it feel when the subject actually gets an awareness of it,
many times when i click picture and show it to the person, their surprise is actually the reward for the effort...
