Photographer’s Note
I took this photo in front of a Voodoo temple where a crowd of people were gathering to celebrate an annual festival in honour of the king of Ouidah, the self-professed Voodoo capital of the world and birthplace of the religion. Voodoo is still practised widely throughout the country, and while its influence is felt everywhere, foreign visitors are rarely invited to attend formal ceremonies. In light of this honour, I arrived early and perhaps a little too eagerly. These children knew something I didn't - that we would be waiting a long, long time.

Hi Kari,
Welcome to TE! What a wonderful photo for your first post. The colours are really nice and there is great texture also. I love the look on the children's faces - it is one of boredom but also patience (is that possible?!). I agree that the descriptive note sets the scene for us.
Cheers, Michele.
