[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
On a game drive in the middle of the Kalahari, I spotted these springbok in this formation and had the driver stop right in front of them so I could take this picture. They were a bit nervous, but stayed put in this pose. The one in the lead is probably just chewing something, but the way he's holding his mouth wrote the title for me!

This was not an easy shot to deal with, as I took it in the heat of the day (40 degrees - 104 for us Americans), which is the worst time to take a photograph. This is the best I could come up with. I'm positing the original as a WS in case anyone wants to try their hand.

Technical: Slight crop to remove animals not in proper formation. I selected all the faces and inverted the selection, then set Brightness -32 and Contrast +63. (If I had included the faces, the gray in them would have been exaggerated.) The I used Levels, setting the center value to 0.91. I used the 81 Warming Filter set at 20%, and then did an overall Brightness increase of +15.

This morning I took a last pre-post look and decided it still wasn't quite right, so I used the 81 warming filter again, another 20%.

Excellent capture, nice contrasts. I liked your PoV and Depth of field too.

Hi Daniel,
How funny! Especially with the one in front with open mouth!
I find it well cropped. They look similar but different in details at the same time.
Well done!
Bea

Hello Daniel,

Very original this shot, the triangle shape and the good sharpness on all the frame provide a shot not so often seen for Game drive pictures.
Even if the light is not the better seen, the scene catches the eyes.

Yves.

Wow... this is a truly fantastic composition. It really looks like the time stopped for a fraction of second and you were just able to catch them frozen at the perfect moment. Very unique.

It is a very nice picture, indeed. You did manage a great compo is a perfect PP. I am impressed. I spent two weeks on a trip to Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana
just two weeks ago and I came back to Australia very happy with all I have seen over there. It is a wonderful region, particularly Botswana.
