Photographer’s Note
These are agitated Hippopotamus we met at the Maga lake. This was the second group we faced during our tour in the Northern Cameroon after the one we saw at Kalamaloue National park.
The Maga artificial lake was created in 1979 to give birth to the SEMERY project, an attempt to develop the rice culture so that local people can improve their standard of living. I already introduced you the Choa and Mousgoum people we met there. The lake is also famous for its Hippos.
This group we met at the end of the afternoon was far more interesting because it was swimming and moving around, yawning whereas the first group was merely sleeping.
These ones stood about ten minutes turning around, a kind of playing then suddenly the whole group (about 20 beasts) decided to leave the spot. One by one they started running then disappeared, swimming underwater.

Hello Steven. Interesting picture of these creatures. The hippo on the right look almost like a crocodile with ears. Colours and sharpness seem ok on my screen. Good perspective of this wild scene.
