Spirit of Africa Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is a picture from the Waza National park, Extreme-North of Cameroon. A good place to meet wild African animals like elephants, giraffs, monkeys, warhogs, different kinds of birds and why not lions if you are lucky enough ?

This shot embodies exactly what I dreamt about Africa for years : large spaces, warm end-of-the-day light, the lonely large tree standing far on the landscape... To me, it does convey the Spirit of Africa I gradually built in my imagination through the films I saw, the images I looked at, the books I read.

Another wonderful moody african atmosfere picture in your collection. A very well done minimalistic approach with excellent placement of the sacrce elements. The almost monochromatic wellow-orange gives an eerie feeling. Great!
By the way, I saw your hippo pictures after writing the critique. Thank you!

:) my africa looks like 'out of africa': kenyan sunsets and large spaces ... at least is how i dream of it, hopefully not for too long!

your africa: gorgeous silhouettes in the orange warm light, good POV and dreamy sunset, looks like the perfect image to end a day ... i like to believe that this is (at least to some extent) the spirit of africa.

Hi Steven,
Excellent photo, a very pleasant landscape. What my Africa would look like? Maybe something like this, maybe something like in my photo's of South Africa. This view is definately worth taking into account when planning a trip to Africa.
The colors are beautiful and the compo is very good.

Un petit peu plus poussiéreuse ;D ...mais tu as raison c'est plutôt de ce genre de scènes dont j'avais le souvenir des safaris de mes vertes années.
