Photographer’s Note

Sometimes unnerving, sometimes refreshing. Some places, as in the bigger cities, nonexistent. Whatever the situation though, it's always nice to know it's there. This one was taken in Waza National Park in Northern Cameroon, looking towards the Central African Republic.

i like the minimalistic approach with the framing including so much space to the white sky
the kind of mist add something great to this composition,
B&W suits perfectly

Hi John,
I like this idea of yours. The result is interesting but two things bother me: I think there is too much sky, even though it's a big part of this composition, it feels like those trees are 'swallowed'. Second, the silouhetted trees are not sharp enough. Looking at the tech secs, I think you could easily have gone for a higher f/ stop and focus on the trees. Well in spite of that, I like the result.

I'd have to say I really like this photo. Reminds me of a Rothko painting. I disagree with Bartleby, I think the ratio of sky to ground is perfect...if you were to put more ground in the frame, I think it would have detracted from your goal of expressing open space. Well done.

Hi John,
yes a little lack of sharpness but the composition is perfect. The space that you want to show, is fully present.
Good one ! I think it´s underestimated.

Hi John,

The blown out part left you with the choice to go for black and white I guess. But even in black and white, blown out parts are not that nice.
I do really like the lower part with the trees disappearing in the distance. I might have gone for a wide-panoramic way of presenting this one, cutting off most of the over-exposure.

Still a wonderful landscape bringing back sweet memories.

Hi again
THoso trees, we see them usually set against the sunset, a beautiful postcard, overdone.
This view scale the trees to small actors in the savana, a huge cloudy sky,it says peace, quiet. It is a beauty by its minimalist presentation, end the relaxing mood that comes from it.
