The hope road Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is the only road to reach Faro Reserve, consisting of forested savanna, hills and mountains, extends to the border with Nigeria but has been badly affected by poaching in recent years.
There are a small population of rhinoceros, buffalo, elephant and harnessed guib.
The Atlantika mountains which the Cameroon/Nigeria border slices through the middle of, are on the background.
15.000 people live in this 200,000 hectares area with 2 health centers for primary care, no doctors at all and 4 nurses....
The only way to provide drugs and vaccines is "the hope road".
It's not its real name but I like to call it so... it's the only hope for 15000 persons and .... outlawers attacks are very frequent... so when you go there, you "hope" to come back home :)!

mi piace questa strada sterrata che curva verso la luce del sole. Mi piace il tuo ottimismo e la tua energia nell'affrontare questo percorso. Sei sempre pronto a darci uno strattone per ricordarci che cosa è in realtà il mondo dietro l'angolo.

a prima vista avrei detto, che bella stradina di campagna africana! A fine lettura della nota, la visione è cambiata drasticamente e la trovo isolata, e perfetta per le imboscate dei fuorilegge. Peccato, perchè la bellezza della Tua foto, ispirerebbe ad una partenza immediata.

Hi Alberto,
The picture and the exceptional note reminds me of the movie 'Constant Gardener'. You had to struggle with the low light but in the end the brilliantly lit sky compensates.

A bit dark on the ground, but the sky is certainly spectacular. Love the road wandering into oblivion with the mountains in the backdrop. Well composed with it as a lead-in. Good work!
