Photographer’s Note

Solid as a rock at sea
carrying her child on her back
crying with nostalgia
that's what a woman of our land is like.
From morning to evening
trudging the fields,struggling and suffering
always working
to raise her children with or without a father,
helping the weakest and the old
who fill her house to shelter from hunger.
That's what a woman of our land is like
she's our gold, our oil, our wealth
the light of our lives.
Her portrait is carved in the rock
the song of the sea mourns to her
burnt by the sun, whipped by the wind
but always watching for the moon.
That's what a woman of our land is like
we must celebrate her in the face of the world
we must love her with all our hearth.
