Photographer’s Note

I found some old photos I took when I arrived in Cameroon and I tried to scan them....
Anyone who thought that Africa has no history before the arrival of the Europeans should have a look here!
Foumban kingdom is a special attraction by itself, founded towards the end of the 14th century by Nchare Yen, the first king of the Bamoun dynasty. The most famous of the successors of Nchare Yen was King Njoya who reigned from 1889-1933. It is King Njoya who invented the Shumon writing which was later taught in schools in his kingdom.
Very imaginative, King Njoya, after a visit to Buea, the ancient capital of Cameroon, during the german colonial period, was inspired by the residence of the German Governor and decided upon returning to Foumban to built the present Sultan’s palace which up to this date, remains an architectural master piece.
The main cultural attractions of Foumban remain the Palace of the Sultan which contains the royal museum.The museum is of international standard where the visitor can see a collection of the Sultan which traces back the history of the Bamoun people. This collection includes objects such as:
- war weapons used during local tribal wars;
- war trophies , notably calabashes decorated with human jaws of conquered enemies ;
- music instruments and dresses worn by the previous kings ;
- the decorated thrones of various kings.

se non la studiamo a scuola non vuol dire che l'Africa non ha storia, a quello che ne so ne ha più della stessa Europa.
La tua foto soffre di un po' troppo contrasto, la troppa luce crea problemi di esposizione e le zone in ombra sono sottoesposte.
Ma la foto rimane comunque valida e la nota interessante

Bella e interessantissima immagine di un luogo veramente poco conosciuto, la qualità è buona peccato che la scultura non risalti molto, hai fatto bene a pubblicarla, grazie.

Etonnante Afrique que tu nous fai si bien decouvrir a travers tes photo si variees. en dehors de ta tres interessante note j;aime baucoup ici cette statue dans cet environnement de tons jaunes. Une architecture inattendue pour ce batiment.

Ciao Alberto, consoliamoci con le foto e un grande augurio di un pronto ritorno in A, ve la meritate, la foto tecnicamente non è il massimo e soffre della scansione, ma la testimonianza e interessante ed anche la nota, bravo.

che bello vedere una piazza vissuta senza l'incubo delle macchine ,
foto molto interessante non fa niente che e' una scansione cosi' cosi' e' bellissima .

Bella foto e interessantissima nota: cosa aspettavi a tirarla fuori dal cassetto!
Bella composizione con questa strana scultura e buona la qualità nonostante la scansione.
Sono dispiaciutissimo per il Chievo :((( ma sono sicuro che ritornerete presto. E' mancata la fortuna, niente più.
Allora, a domani...

davvero bisognerebbe conoscere di più la storia dell'Africa. Credo che tutti dobbiamo ringraziarti per le informazioni che ci dai.
La foto è ben composta e descrive un luogo molto particolare che non avrei saputo dove collocare se non fosse stato per la tua nota.

Ciao Alberto,
un'altra chicca delle tue di questo paese poco conosciuto e visitato. La composizione dell'immagine è piacevole ed anche il lavoro con lo scanner non è da buttare. Naturalmente la nota informativa rende l'immagine ancora più interessante.
e così hai in previsione un trasloco. Il Niger occupa una delle prime posizioni sulla mia wish list, mentre sul Mozambique ho visto un documentrio on mesetto fà e non sembrava niente male. Ad ogni caso c'ha un mare splendido...
