Photographer’s Note

This is the same place where I did shot my latest post.
It`s a still working small saline close to Santa Maria on th island Sal.At the horizon you can see some hotels of Santa Maria.
Most visitors of Cape verde stay only on this island in this village.There are more than 50 hotels.
It`s sunny the whole year and verry windy at the coast.
Santa Maria is host of an annual surf worldcup.

These salt flats must be some of the most hostile places on Earth, as nothing can grow and survive for long...
Here I like the contrast between ground and sky, beautiful clarity in colours all over and nice details!

Here in Rio de Janeiro State's North we have salt places like that. I want one day go there to take photo, But I don't think I can get closer like that.

Lovely blue sky with good contrast with the salt areas. I think this place is veru hot, isn't it?

This scene reminds me of Tunisia, where many salt mines and fields are abundant. The scene is impressive and not surprisingly, devoid of vegetation and foliage. I like the way you have depicted it with the landscape contrasting markedly with the sky. The horizon is probably a bit too centered, I would have placed it a bit higher up in the composition, but barring that, the scene is very well captured.

Nice subject that offers strong contrasts, I like here the low PV that heps to get a good depth, the whites are eclatant.

un très joli ciel, travail épatant du polarisant, presqu'incontournable par les fortes lumières.

Le bleu de ce ciel cohabite bien d'ailleurs avec les bruns et les blancs.
Une composition équilibrée et agréable à regarder.

Hi Andreas,
Well composed with the salt pile well placed and the smaller pyramids trailing away. I like the unusual and varying hues of beige and brown here. The shoreline nicely breaks up the frame and there is great contrast with the blue sky. Very well done.

Whithout the houses, this could be an imaginary image of some far away planet. Very nice pov and combination of colours.
I've never visit Sal island (except the airport for transfer), but your photos make me wish to stop there some time.

danke für dieses Bild, denn wegen deines Fotos haben wir einen schönen Spaziergang hierher gemacht. Die Saline gibt es immer noch. Allerdings waren die meisten Becken geflutet, sodaß es nicht so einfach war in dem Gewirr der "Wasserpfützen" herum zu spazieren und zu fotografieren. Erschreckt haben mich dann doch die armseligen Hütten in denen die Salzarbeiter hausten.
