Very interesting head shot-- I guess in one sense the lack of context as a result of the blown out background shows how much many of us know and understand about this country and its people (other than the horrible dictatorship of Jean Bedel Bokassa in the 1970s).
Since you've already lost the background I'd have been tempted to have less of his face in shadow, maybe include more of his right-side eye in the light so as to have his mesmerising stare more apparent.

très beau portait il a un superbe regard
le fond blanc donne un coté un peu mystique a cette image.
