Photographer’s Note
That photo shows some refugees, children always have a smile to give, even between life and dead. The refugee field of Kibumba, 350.000 esteemed people, without any kind of supplies, under the most severe cholera epidemic break of the second half of XX century.
2.000.000 refugees on the boarder with Rwanda, about 7.000 dead/day (numbers from UN-HCR ).

This picture is very hard. But it could be a "picture of the year" of the World Press Competition.
The smile of the child in such a dirty, poor environment is so strong. A punch in the stomach

Hello jose. An interesting and worth seeing Photo. It works very authentically. Actually it is a journalistic/political photo. A good picture for TE. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Why we are so helpless.
Why we are not able to change the things in Africa ?
Loudly yelling photo.

Amazing picture... so strong, so true, so much depicting another dimension of life. Thanks for bringing this to our eyes!

Hello Jose,
I'd like to thank you for all these pictures you have scanned and are sharing with us from DRCongo in 94. Even if the quality is "as is"... it is essential to put them on TE... so that most people "truly learn about the true world".
As always, reality seems less dramatic (even smiling) than the terrible note!

Philippe.
