Photographer’s Note

Some places are hard to forget, Goma is one of them. It´s not difficult at all to describe Goma as "hell on earth". Rebel fighting around the city's outskirts, UN Peacekeeping Forces always present, Goma is under watch...the eruption in 2002 didn´t do Goma any good either...there's alot suffering in Africa's "Heart Of Darkness".

Interesting and disturbing picture. It seems like life is at a stand still. I mean that people are obviously doing what they need to to survive, but that effort is taking all they have. That white house in roughly the center of the photo is quite interesting because it looks like it is straight out of somewhere European or American. Does it belong to and aid organization? Very interesting and thanks for the post.
