Photographer's Note
This is the interior of the Alexandria Library in Egypt. I was inspired to post this because of Craig's recent library interior post. Went looking for it and found it so here it is. Please see the workshop for another view. The original 'Royal library' was partly burned down by Julius Caesar in 48 BC, again by Roman Emperor Aurelian in the 3rd century AD, & finally by the Muslim conquest of Egypt in 642 AD.
From Wikipedia: "The library was created by Ptolemy I Soter, who was a Macedonian general and the successor of Alexander the Great. Most of the books were kept as papyrus scrolls. It is unknown precisely how many such scrolls were housed at any given time, but estimates range from 40,000 to 400,000 at its height." Today's library which commemorates the antique one, is almost as impressive and well worth a visit. Alexandria is easily reached by train from Ramses Station in Cairo.

Bonsoir Chris,
La prise de vue permet de voir le style moderne de l'architecture du musée. L'image est claire et précise. La lumière environnante met en valeur les couleurs de l'image. Bonne soirée.

Good morning Chris,
Its rather a very modern design, something one would not think of Egypt. The spot lights are "dotting" the picture, it was the first to catch my eyes when opened the thumbnail.
Fine indoor's photo.
Have a nice weekend,
Ike

Bonjour, cher Chris,
Ah ! il faut reconnaître que cela change des édifices existants en Egypte.
C'est résolument moderne, et c'est sûrement un bien, il faut vivre avec son temps.
Belle présentation.
Amitiés.

Hello Chris,
What a pity you couldn't see the original library, but this is also very interesting. I never saw anything looking as modern and elegantly designed in Egypt. I wonder if the contents are as impressive as the architecture. The good light allowed for very sharp and clear photos.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Chris
glad I could be somewhat of an inspiration haha :)
we've both found a pretty cool library!
even looking at this scene I can see a few neat compositions waiting to be taken.
love the angular lines, the contrasting flow of the style and that back wall is pretty unique too. nice one!

Bonjour Chris,
Je crois bien que c'est la première fois que j'ai l'occasion de voir cette célèbre bibliothèque. L'architecture est remarquable toute en légèreté.Beau point de vue et belle contre plongée.
Amicalement

Hello Chris,
I've visited this library in 2003. It's absolutely a wonderful building and a great design.
It's great that a country as Egypt also has such buildings.
Good, clear and sharp capture of its interior.
Regarding your question if Chicago has Al Capone tours: I don't know but yesterday I read in the newspaper that Trapani in Sicily has maffia tours ...
Best regards, Paul

Hi Chris
Very fine modern interior, and for me a surprise add I hear of this library and think of the ancient one, not today's. It seems huge!
Cheers

Hello Chris,
I like the shapes and colors in this frame. It looks very modern and grandiose. Oh yes, when the conqueror was asked what to do with the books in the library, he said, "Burn them, if they agree with the Quran, we have the Quran, we don't need them, if they disagree with the Quran, they must be burned, anyway!" (Or something to that effect.)
Regards,
MT
PS. THY came through, they are now checking electronics at the gate and hand-delivering them at the destination.

impressive this modern interior. I liked in special of that roof in half moon and the colored strips of light. a pity the ancient library was persecuted so many times, its treasure could have improved the progress of mankind in the next centuries.
