The previous upload was about 5 km from Safaga. This one in much further away around the 70 km mark. Roadside cafes are a long way apart in this barren and inhospitable landscape of the eastern Sahara. There are no towns. The small settlements and gas stops are just named after how many km they are from the nearest civilization. eg My first stop departing the Nile Valley was simply called '85 km'. Notice how the mountains trap the sand. In the Gobi, sand dunes run parallel to the mountains and are over 500 km long but onky 3-4 km wide. Most deserts are rock and pebbles rather than sand.

Brilliant road trip shot showing the process of travelling. Pastel colours create harmony and wonderful lines make for a great foreground.

Bonsoir, cher Chris,
Il ne fait pas bon de tomber en panne dans ce désert. La route est belle et bien signalée. Quant à l'environnement, cela me rappelle la route pour aller à Abou Simbel (en 1996) !
Un cadrage bien pensé et présenté.

Another interesting and attractive road picture!
Again, I love the contrast between the modern road and the impressive desert landscape!
TFS - congrats,

Hi Chris, Another nice picture from your trip through the desert. Impressive landscape. Have you been in Aswan?
I went by this road from Luxor to Hurghada, a bit farther than Safaga. But it was long time ago, almost 20 tears.

Very nice and wide view of the road, just before the bend. The hazy, layered view of the rough mountains in the background is beautiful. Must be a special experience to travel through a landscape like this.

Good morning Chris,
Despite the barren land and no trees around, still a magnificent sight of the desert. Mountains rising from the yellow dunes in the FG, created excellent contrast.
Very similar terrain sight of our South Negev desert near Eilat.
My best regards,

A rather desolate landscape and I imagine a rather boring drive with the scenery changing little. The wide angle view of the roadway creates a very effective lead-line towards the craggy mountains. The composition also suits the panoramic format you have chosen. Very good technical realisation.

La courbe de la route envoie mon regard vers les montagnes ce qui donne de la profondeur à la scène. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des montagnes. La composition est bien divisée, le ciel, les montagnes et la route. Bonne journée.

The soft colors of the background help giving very good depth to the image, and the line of the road leads our eyes into the photo! Beautiful landscape and composition! Very well done!

This is a dream of every driver in Belgium, a road without cars.
Every day, hours in the file, day and night on the highways, real a drama.
The road middle of the desert with a curve in the way make your picture very nice.
You chose a nice angle with an excellent depth and perspective.
Composition and presentation are excellent for look at.
Very well done, TFS.
