Well-earned rest....

| [Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe |
It's hard to describe the heat of an Egyptian day in June / July. Just imagine sitting in an oven on a medium heat with no breeze and, even if you find some shade, it only cools down by a couple of degrees.
For those of us who cannot handle humidity, however, this is a very dry, arid heat that vaporises sweat the instant it breaks the skin's surface.
These guys were (probably still are) workers at the hotel we were staying at in Luxor and who decided to have a chat between themselves at break time.
I've cropped to square as the 3:2 aspect ratio didn't quite work as well. I've done precious little othat than crop, apply smart sharpening and re-size.
Hope you like it. |

H Paul,
An original view. The hit forces everybody to take a break.
Nice catch

A documentary like scene from a street corner. captured with expert deftness and ease. I like the pov and the way tis been captured
Hello Paul,
A good downwards point of view to concentrate the attention on the two characters. Helped by the curving kerb and the presence of the mat. A very good street capture picturing daily life in the heat of the day.
A focal length of 300mm (450mm equiv with the digital crop) at 1/80th second is a sure recipe for blurry images, and such is the case here - you'd have done better shooting at 1/500 at least, upping the ISO if necessary. You also seem to have focused on the crack in the road behind, rather than on the men, which has exacerbated the situation.
Beats me why you took it from so far away anyway - how about crossing the street and chatting to them? You'd have got a more intimate and meaningful photograph that way.
I was just browsing in the forums and read that you've just bought yourself an F100 and 24mm lens - a much better focal length for these people in the streets shots.
Give it a go Paul - get closer man!
Cheers,
Ben
