Photographer’s Note
Last year, a country here just finished the celebration of their millennium. No kidding! Ethiopia has its unique calendar with different systems of date and timing. The working hours of government offices, in world time generally from 9:00 to 5:00, are in local time from 3:00 to 11:00! Such uniqueness could also be found in other aspects!
from 17th Sep to 6th Oct, 2007 - 19 days in ETHIOPIA:
- (…Metema…) - Shihedi 1 - Gonder 3 - Aksum 3 - Mekele 1 - Woldia 1 - Lalibela 3 - Bahar Dar (Blue Nile Falls) 3 - Debre Markos 1 - Addis Ababa 2 - Dila 1 - (…Moyale…) -

Hi Michael, I have lived in this amazing country for two years. When I looked at your photo, I remember my old days. All the people -without any exception- were so kind. The poster, which shows the traditional coffee ceremony, is the right choice for celebrating the Ethiopian millenium. Lovely photo with nice smiling faces. Regards, Tolga

Michael: a great portraiture technique - ask the locals to display something and then study the scene. Great smiles here too. c
