Photographer’s Note
I find that markets are very representative of life and habits of the country's they're at. I allways look for them, when travelling and specially in poorer countries, where life takes place mainly outdoors. These places help you to get a feeling of the place and culture. It's also a thrill to my wife, finding diferent fruits and other kinds of strange food that we have never seen or tasted before.
This is taken in the coast of Kenya, north of Mombaça. They do not use scales. Everything is sold by volume or portions, as you can see in the photo.
This is a scanned image from the negative, which had a line on the upper half, that I didn't know how to get rid off. The foreground is a bit overexposed - white grain and african sun combined - but what I like about this photo is the contrast between light and shadow.

Hi Ricardo
A lovely collectin of these daily life foods. I like the composition here, as we can learn a lot from what is on display. I agree with you about the market places, they are a real education. Well done.

Hola Ricardo.
I'm not sure about this photo. Your POV could be better making a lower POV. The exposure is also difficult and is a pity the woman (could be more interesting see the whole woman... but not in this way).
Anyway, markets are always interesting.
Thanks for share.

Hi Ricardo,
A picture far from the western world. Well captured this marketplace.
Nice composition of all these sizes of tins as measuring cups for the market goods.

Fernando

Hi Ricardo,
Market pictures are always very colored through the different products, also here we can see good organization of the products, the attires of the lady are as well as other image very lovely. I see very few overexposed in foreground, it's absolutely not disturbing.
Very well done
Thanks a lot,
John.

Very colourful shot, with the blue being particularly vibrant. It is a shame about the blue line, but I agree with you about the light shade contrast, as there is no cut-off point but a gradual change from light to dark. Interesting daily life shot and well within the TE spirit.

Olá Ricardo,
what a nice detail of this market, carefully arranged in baskets; the old cans we would have thrown away...
Going to market is always interesting to discover atmosphere and people.

Ciao Ricardo,
Hope you had a nice time snowboarding in Tignes (I'm sure the snow was good!).
I think it's a good idea to want to show us the variety of food here in Kenya, but this photo had a few minor defaults that I tried to correct with a WS. It's OK not to see the entire woman on the right (the hands show that she is working), but I don't really like the arm on the left. Hope you enjoy the WS.
Regards, Brigitte
Edit: I'll post the WS in a few hours, because I have already reached my daily limit!

Hola Ricardo

Hi Ricardo,
A superb daily life shot. The overexposure referenced in your note is very minimal and this really is a good scan. The POV is ideal, as we see clearly the various wares and the lady working enhances and balances the scene. A very fine capture.

In my hometown still they sale things like the beans or some pepper in that way, is interesting how the cultures can be so similar in many aspects. I would like to see her face and I'm wonderfing if you have some pictures with african faces, I would like to see it and I hope in your next trip you can do it.
I like this pictures because helps you to know more about other sucltures and because this helps you to remember things in your trip.
Good picture for me does not looks overexpose and about the line I will clone it, this will tok many time but this is the only things cames to my mind.
