The "Lowlands", a photo from Mafeteng, South

Photographer's Note

Lesotho is called the kingdom in the sky. The lowest point of the country is 1400 masl, higher than in any other country! The name means "the land of the Sotho" and the people are commonly referred to as Basotho. The language is called Sesotho.

This was taken from the horseback while riding to an icy waterfall two hours away from my lodge. Here you can see a basotho in traditional clothing. The blankets are necessary as the temperatures often goes below freezing in the winter. Corn seemed to be a popular way of income in this area and I saw several corn fields along my ride.

Quite a barren landscape with mighty mountains (Drakensbergen I presume). the man with his oxes and kar forms a great foreground. Well balanced composition,

J'aime beaucoup cette scène de la vie quotidienne dans cette partie du monde. Le travail dur se fait encore avec des bœufs. L'endroit ne semble pas très chaud. Le paysage est fantastique.

This is an incredible landscape! I like a lot the pattern formed by the several colours of the fields and also the daily scene in foreground. They seem to be pulling a heavy burden. It must be a very hard work both for people and for animals, specially with such weather conditions.
