Photographer’s Note

Littel Water Canal - Ghadames is one of the most ancient city oases of the Libyan Sahara. They told us that there are no people living. Going beside the tourist routes you could find some water canals which are floating little rice fields.

Hi Achim, I like the composition & your great chose of POV, the reflection of the palm in the water has been very well captured, there is superb light & excellent colour, with the hight of the walls I am wondering how you got out, kind regards Wilson.

Hi Achim,
A fascinating view up the canal, with one half of the frame bathed in light and the other in shadow. I like the depth obtained here and the effectiveness of the low angle POV. The shadow on the right enhances further. Well captured.

Hi Achim.
Nice symetric view of this small canal surrounded by old walls. It reminds me the traditional "falaj"'s going down the Jabal Akhdar in the Sultanate of Oman and which are sometimes very similarly looking. I like the contrast in light from the left to the right part.

Hi Achim,
A very nice and well composed photo with a good reflection in the water canal. A difficult photo to take with one side easy to overexpose and the other side the other way around. You managed it really well and also got good colors.
Is that an auto portrait on the right side?

Hallo Achim,
herausforderndes Licht mit der Sonne rechts und dem Schatten links. Gut gelöst. Durch diese starken Unterschiede stört die zentrierte Wasserlinie nicht, der dunklere Teil scheint mehr vom Bild einzunehmen. Schöner Effekt, wie es auf die Palmen zuläuft.

You chose an excellent POV so you could include the reflection of the palm tree in the narrow strip of water. You could have had all kinds of difficulties with the contrast in light, but I'm guessing you exposed for the bright side and brought the detail out of the shadows later. Very good work.

Achim, j'aime la bonne composition avec ce canal dans lequel le ciel et un palmier se reflètent. Quand on sait l'importance de l'eau dans ces pays, on comprend qu'on fait tout pour l'économiser et la rendre utile jusqu'à la dernière goutte.
