Photographer's Note

Madagascar is perhaps most famous for Lemurs, Baobab trees and National parks. National parks are usually nice visits but I prefer to see the daily life for people at new spots. In Antsirabe I couldn't resist to have a closer look at this "aluminium factory". An interesting process to see how the guys melted old car engines, can and other aluminium products. It looks quite risky to see when they pouring the liquid aluminium(660C+) into the casting moulds in just slippers! Another risky moment in the process is in the workshop. Here we can see how they use this homemade lathe to finish the product, a pan in this case. I've been working in a workshop myself and know how dangerous a lathe can be, especially when you have your fingers inside a rotating object. Not to mention the noise and metal swarf, especially when you don't wear googles and ear protection.

Posted two more photos in the WS. I hope you can see them, it was my first attempt with WS:)
