Hi Wanda, a place where i would love to go, kind of dream this remote country, remote island, no fascinating, your treatment is particular and heavy in white tones, i like it, original to show those so famous baobabs

It looks like a place from other planet.A very different avenue with these impresive trees.The black and white works very well for this composition adding to the contrast between the tones and to the graphism from the shadows!

This avenue is something very impressive. The choice of B&W is very clever as trunks are massive and create a contrast with the sky.

Those are amazing trees indeed and rather strange looking ones. The scene almost seems like one of those Harry Porter venues! You've got a good perspective Wanda and have controlled the composition well that communicate the size of these huge monsters.

I think this is more impressing, because the b&w here gives a very high contrast and light and shadow dominate completely. The POV with the road through the trees adds depth and the tops of the trees with the dark leaves are marvelous.

Of your two recent posts, I think this is the more succesful. I like the high contrast; it emphasises the strong shapes of the trees and suits this alrady contrasty image with the long shadows running across the frame.
I like the way the shadows run at right angles to the trees, and the way the line of the track cuts through everything and leads the eye into and through the depth of the image.
Strong and graphic, good stuff Wanda.

This is even better than the previous post. Wonderful perspective of these thick trunked baobab trees. I guess these are the ones that are known as 'bottle trees'.

Ohhh Wanda!!!! I like Baobabs!!:D and I like your post-processing!! So duotone...as if there was no grey..just white or black:D And the view is beautiful and very exotic for me North american living in a suburb under a ski slopes:D I like the traces in the sand...not only tires...but also bikes...am I wrong? It might be me who is half-crazy but half the photos from you that I critique, there is a bicycle involved:D

It has always been one of my dreams to go to madagascar but I never did it so far. Your treatment is excellent for these very well known baobabs, very graphic, very evocative. excellent job!

Wonderful shot..Those trees are looking like umbrellas over the road..and the road lead the eyes to the infinity..But you can crop little in the lower portion...best wishes...SUBIR

I love trees! The only time that I have been to South Africa I just adored to see those trees in the landscape. Unfortunately I was too young and didn't have a major interest in photography. Well, I'm happy to see now yours. How lovely and interesting that the scanning process didn;t damage the visula to much. Interesting choice to use so much contrast, but that was probably the only way to show those people in the background. I'm glad that you included them in your picture. it gives a real dimension.

This is a true B&W picture :) What I mean is that the high contrast works very fine and creates a very graphic impression. I like the PP you've done here, because it stresses the hughness of these impressive trees. Sometimes less is more!

Since i have learnt about their existance, i have admired the epic grandeur of the babobab trees. Wherever i see their photos, i am attracted again and again. This B&W vision with increased contrast also emphsizes their perfect biology. And your choice of veritcal framing is how it has to be. Very good presentation. Congrats,

It's a great place that i was fortunate enough to see after the 2001 solar eclipse just south of Morondava. The high contrast you give this shot works quite well.

Hello Wanda,

Madagascar is an ecologically rich nation but the plundering of its resources is terrible, it is a shame to see such biodiversity lost forever. I really like this photo, this part of the world was once connected to Australia so we have baobabs here also but they are markedly different in height and appearance. The black and white conversion is good; these two shots make for a good mini-series. I think that the contrast is a bit too strong in the sky but the effect is defiantly bold. Well done Wanda!
