Photographer’s Note
This is Mulanje Massif, a striking mountain formation near Blantyre. It rises out of the flat land that surrounds it, largely tea plantations to the south of Lake Malawi. It is a mass of igneous rock about 13mls by 16mls which is harder than the surrounding rock that has over time eroded away. Great views from the top, some of which is used in timber production. It is also known as the 'Island in the Sky'.
