Photographer's Note

The village of Yendoumà in the Dogon Country. This is one out of more than 200 villages scattered at the base of the
Bandiagara Escarpment, a 200 miles long cliff overlooking a vast plain in Mali. The Dogon people, the inhabitants of these villages, believe in a very rich cosmogony and have an incredibly original aesthetics (just look at their homes). What is depicted here are actually two granaries at the fore-front, while their homes show up in the background. We trekked the Dogon country (walking is the only means of transportation due to the roughness of the terrain) for more than 60 miles in 6 days. A truly memorable experience.
