Well this was, truly, an odd encounter. Wandering around wonderful Djenne one day I ran into this young girl, wearing a sheer, black scarf. I got my camera out and she obliged me with a big smile.

Hi Jim,

Yes, it is an odd encounter. I thought from the thumbnail this was a blue man group guy, a burglar, or an extremist. Who's hand is on her shoulder?

Great shot. Really great. If a well known photographer/artist took this it would be considered a masterpiece by the masses. Maybe you are, but if your not, I still consider it a masterpiece.

It's blurry, has bad color and looks like really harsh light. For me though, it's not a photo about technicalities. It's a photo about emotion, movement and life, and you have captured that extraordinarily.

A disturbing shot (in spite of the smile), bizarre effect and colours, that white background, a hand out of nowhere on her shoulder, the white of eyes and teeth... A fascinating image!
