Another big, big river...

This shot was taken during our trip in Mali, still one of the best ever!

The Niger River is the principal river of western Africa, extending about 4180 km. Its source is in the Guinea Highlands in southeastern Guinea. It runs in a crescent through Mali, Niger, on the border with Benin and then through Nigeria, discharging through a massive delta. The Niger is the third-longest river in Africa.

Hello Benny,

I can only agree that T. Diabaté is great to listen to and that this photo expresses his music very well, however, I think it´s little noisy - it is probably caused by scanning, but even then it can be removed in PS...anyway, I like this.

Hello Benny...just a bit centered maybe..u said uve cropped it..i'd like to see more space on either side..this looks static...dont you think ??

Overall a good mood with the silhouettes..who seems engaged with something activity in front..

Hallo Benny,

Ik wilde meteen al zeuren over de technische kant van de foto totdat ik zag dat het een print was, dus alles is je vergeven ;-)
We zien weinig prints meer hier op TE, maar voor mij persoonlijk is deze scan vele malen beter dan iedere willekeurig digitaal snapshot wat hier dagelijks in hordes voorbij komt. Hier zit sfeer in, een wel doordachte kadering en compositie en vooral timing in hoe de man met stok de boot en compositie bepaalt.
Een foto die ik graag mag zien en erg kan van geneiten...ook OMDAT het juist een gescande print is..!!!

C'est toujours difficile d'avoir un bon résultat à partir d'un scan. Ici la version est d'une grande beauté. J'aime beaucoup ces silhouettes de la barque et de ses occupants.

Good to hear from you. In fact I've missed a whole lot of fine posts of yours due to my transfer & movement from Delhi to Bombay. It takes time to settle down in a new place & hence I missed TE for quite a while.
An excellent view here. I like the original version with the pale pastel colours. The PPed version which you posted here is is also excellent, though I am a bit iffy about the halo around the silhouetted men here, which is not in the original. But I agree with you...the picture is simply amazing!

Great capture on the Niger river. I have seen many and it is far from easy to get such a nice one. Great compo with chinese shade (ombre chinoise - I am not sure of the translation). I will be there in a month, I will try to catchup.
