Chefchaouen (pronounced [ʃəfʃɑwən]) (Arabic: شفشاون, Spanish: Xauen or Chauen) is a city in northwest Morocco. It is the chief town of the province of the same name.

Chefchaouen is situated in the Rif Mountains, just inland from Tangier and Tetouan. The city was founded in 1471, as a small fortress which still exists to this day, by Moorish exiles from Spain led by Moulay Ali Ben Moussa Ben Rached El Alami to fight the Portuguese invasions of northern Morocco.[1] It was known as one of the main concentrations of Moriscos and Jews who sought refuge in this mountainous city after the Spanish Reconquista in medieval times.[2] In 1920, the Spanish seized Chefchaouen to form part of Spanish Morocco. Spanish troops imprisoned Abd el-Krim in the kasbah in 1926 after defeating him with the help of the French force. Spain returned the city after the independence of Morocco in 1956.

Chefchaouen es una maravilla de ciudad con sus calles azules y su luz.Tengo la misma foto pero con calle recien encalada y en diferente hora.

Bela foto. Gosto da senhora sentada. Atè que parece estar vestida com as mesmas cores que as paredes; azul e branco. O rapaz subindo as escadas è um ponto vermelho que se destaca bem por causa da côr da T-shirt e por tambem estar num dos pontos fortes da composiçao da foto. So acho pena è o volume na parte direita que atrai muito meu olhar e que rompe com a harmonia dos tons.

Olá Elias, very good perspective of the marvellous blue city of Morocco. Here we have to go all the way up, to find out new blue spots, more architecture details and...more daily life scenes. Excellent capture of the woman sat on the door entrance, also dressed in blue tones :) I'm not sure about the inclusion of the roof on the top, though. I would problably crop it.

Olá Elias!
Bonita foto. Gosto desta perspectiva, da forma como conduzes o olhar pela escada. A rua é bastante bonita. Gosto das cores e da presença destas pessoas aqui. Bem captada!

Me gustan las fotos de esta ciudad azul.
En tu foto la Lady sitting está en acuerdo con la calle. Por otro lado, el boy walking en rojo hace un interesante contraste, asi como la ventana.

Elias, I visited often this little town in the 80s and I am happy to see here a beautiful view from it, with the typical colours and stairs...
