We've seen it all...

... appeared to be the expression of these sheep in the face of the oncoming Saharan sand-storm. The white "wall" in the background is sand, lifted up and carried by the wind. The sand would change colors depending on the density of clouds above, but at this point it just seemed like a white, impenetrable wall. Seconds later, the wall would be where the sheep were in the picture.

Once you are in the middle of it, you cannot see further than a couple yards and the sand has it's evil ways to get EVERYWHERE. I had to hide my eyes and my camera. However, the little Canon still remembers the experience, whenever I try to rotate any dials. The sheep did not seem to be bothered though...

Your thoughts and comments are highly appreciated.

Thank you for your visit,
Chris.

PS. For example, this shot was taken a few hours later in the same place: different color of the same sand in the air. The storm had largely subsided by then though.

Grat shot, i love your subjects, indeed like they have seen it all...the soft sandy colors and the white space that seems void but seems to be the sand storm. This photo leaves a powerful impression.

Ioana

Really good composition particular in your color work... Very soft and quiet... Congratulations...

nice attempt and theme, but the extra vast sky is not giving any significant input to your frame, so you could have cropped it a lot.

Hi Kristaps,
Lovely peaceful scene, full of softness.
Nice framing, soft light and soft brown tones.
TFS,
Corinne

I like how the ground gradually melts away and disappears, it reminds me of the Neverending Story, where the world just dissolved. the photo's nicely composed and sharp, but I agree that you could crop from the top of the photo and still maintain the same feeling of the photo and not end up with the "portrait of sheep" ;)
best,
K.

Hi Kristaps!
Simple but greta composition! I just love these two lonely sheep in the middle of the desert,it really gives a sense of dimension and loneliness. Great colours also! Good work!
Regards, Anabela

Hello Kristaps,

Wonderful!!!! Great minimalistic shot and the sheep looking sheep-ish as they always do. And probably thinking 'We've seen it all'. Good one!

Have a good weekend! Dennis

PS: With an unsharp mask of 10% - 50 pixel radius, you can enhance the contrast on the foreground nicely. Give it a try - I don't have any workshop uploads anymore for today. ;-)

Doesn't look a very good place to be a sheep - not much to eat...
I like the overall emptiness of the image, the vastness of the desert comes across well. I think including so much sky works well, although I think the shot would be improved by a slight crop along the bottom, bringing the lower edge of the frame nearer to the sheep.

Cheers,
Ben

Great Horizontal geometry in this pic The subject is well placed at the lower front view
When i look at this pic I almost hear some sounds. Some wooden pipe like instrument mixed with distant wind blows.
Great result to imagine other thing only by looking at a pic
Best regards
Kostas

Hi Kristaps,

very interesting atmosphere in this image, the undefined BG anf the sheeps expressions work very well together with your title

Bonjour Kristaps,
Best regards.
Daniel.

Hello Kristaps
The Silence of the Lambs
beautiful lambs
nice colours and compo

Seen in your "randoms" : very simple and very effective - so typical from that place, the harmony of colours and the haze due to the heath - I like it a lot, the nothingness gives some pleasant nostalgia... Very nice !
Best regards,
Cath.
