Soothing, welcoming calmness of an ancient Quranic school in Fes. Hope you like it.

Even though many of the rooms of the building are ruins and grow trees nowadays, some are still functioning and classes are taking place there as shown in this worshop photo. In WS, I have also provided an alternate view on the entrance to the Madrasah with more colorful detail of the overall structure.

Thank you for your visit.

Kind regards
Kristaps

PS. General information on Madrasahs (schools) can be found in this Wikipedia page while a fine detail of the very building shown in my photo can be seen in a spider-webbed capture by avene.

Très belle photo de ce bâtiment richement décoré mais qui semble se dégrader sérieusement.J'aime beaucoup les tons de l'image.

Hi Kristaps,
Very beautiful shot. I like the composition very much, and I think the human figure gives a life it'd lacked otherwise. the shot is very sharp and the light is just perfet. TFS.

Hi Kristaps. Sad to read about the neglect of such a fine building. Nice, soft colours contrasted dramatically by the lovely blue. Excellent details. Regards. Klaudio.

love this photo, the composition really creates the feeling that the viewer is standing in the doorway. I like the sharp details that show how elaborate the building is, and the luminous water. very good work.
best,
K.

Hi Kristaps,

Nice photo, good quality. TFS.

Regards, Ildiko

It's a beautifull place!! and you took it well!!

Hi Kristaps,
You have a lovely collection of fine Moroccan pictures, I like the elaborate style of that one that looks quite similar to one I have visited in Marrakech, looks like Fes is of less value from a touristic point of view and they put less effort in maintenance of such fine buildings. Good to include the person as well to provide some life and scale.
Have a nice week end,
Jean-yves

yo kristaps

you have captured this building so well! i think the exposure is prefect, or at least pretty darn close. seeing this photo makes me feel very calm and relaxed, i love it! (going to give it a *favorite* for sure!)
keep it up!

A really good job,i like the partially desaturated colors.a nice kind of mixed b/W and color.sharpness and compo are well done too.

That is a wonderful image of a wonderful building. The human presense just makes it warmer. I disagree a bit with the kind of clothing the man is dressed with but who can have it all?

Hi Kristaps ,
Wonderful light u have used. The composition looks brilliant and the perspective ...nice.

Sometimes a simple digital camera is a better solution then some DSLR. Just because sometimes it is important to see all details - the aperture has to be closed.

Colours, composition, feeling... everything is great.
Ok, i just love islamic architecture :)

Simple great

Hi Kristaps,

I like very much your treatment of colors ! It gives a nice atmosphere. Good work.

Regards,
Stéphanie.

Hey Kristaps,

Whooo, intricate details of Morroccan Architecture, mosaic patterns/applications are well seen. I also like the 'vertical' format, the timing of the man's looking above the atrium is stunning as well! I wish I could given double smiles for both images!

All the best!

I like this kind of frame inseide buildings...

Wow! Great photo. There is such a mood to this picture with the blues and the greys complementing each other perfectly. Add in the person with his back to us and it is an excellent photo.

Hello Kristaps,
Soothing for sure. I could sit there for hours, just watching the details, contemplating and reading. The colors and sharpness are very good. I also like the presence of the people, which transforms it from a strictly architectural shot to one with a unique mood. These photos are somewhat tough to nail without a tripod. It's not just the shutter speed issue but also attaining symmetry in composition as your hand inevitably tends to drift away. Here, for instance, the door in the back could have been perfectly centered. I would also consider cropping the right edge just enough to have symmetry in the width of the doors you show. There is some barrel distortion induced by the lens which can be corrected in post-processing. Those nitpicks aside, a terrific picture! Regards,
Hakan

HY Kristaps,
u have a colourfull gallery!i like it!
and particulary this image..i like the light a lot..and of course iadmire the arhitecture..it's very speciall and beautiful
teo

A simple composition, but of a great beauty, including the hose, which helps make more earthly the shot. With the human figures, the Madrasah wins in warmth, far from the coldness of the static photographs of monuments.
Congratulations
Angel

Wonderfully balanced blue and silver colors with incredibly sharp details to this intricately designed Fes.
The men add nice scale and teh vivid blue pool is a real eye catcher.
