Chefchaouen
This beautiful medieval town in the Rif mountain region, has a distinctive Spanish character, having been settled by Spanish refugees in the middle ages. The medina of the town has become renowned as one of the most charming in Morocco, with whitewashed gabled houses where craftsmen sit contentedly in their shops sewing caftans and embroidering jellabahs. The medina is dominated by a 17th-century Great Mosque, which fronts a picturesque square dotted with mulberry trees and inviting restaurants.

This medina is truly a walhalla for photographers, a place that has to be on your list when you are visiting Morocco. And bring your wide-angle lens, because some streets a very narrow.
The door entrance was not higher than 1 meter 50...wondering who's living there.

Hi Henk,
Nice POV and good shot!

Good morning Henk the Viking,

Too bad you had to work yesterday... You see, if you would post a church photo on Sundays, it wouldn't happen... :-P)

What a surprising shot from you my friend! Who could have believe the "Netherlander" would post such a photo! Don't get me wrong, I like it a lot, but this one surely stands out in your gallery! There's not a lot of edges here to evaluate your signature sharpness, but I don't have a doubt about it. I'm a fan of details shots, like doors, windows and so on, when they are really represent a singular interest, and it's clearly the case here.

When I first had a look at it, I thought it was an image from Jodhpur, with this blue paint spread all over. So on top of being a beautiful monochromatic shot , it's a clear case of LATW...

Cheers!

André

Very good work of true old Velvia and nice scan quality of this dwarf dwelling, Henk, the dominating blue works well framing the darkness in the open door...

Cheers and happy new year
Alexander

Hello Henk

Interesting theme...Good use of the one element with the right perspective..think it gives the right depth the compo demands..the saturation of the colours are well balanced..escpecially the blue..very sharp..

Overall well presented..i like it..:)

Hi Henk,

interesting shot. The blueish tones bring some king of cool atmosphere although Morroco must be a hot place. Your wide angle lens provived an effective area and the details are very visible. I like this a lot!
Regards,
Carlos

looks very surreal henk, and even the electric boxes can not change it...

this is an amazing tone of blue to relieve my soul here at work, i like it a lot...

quite different than your other work but still a very inviting and charming little shot this one is...

korkut

I wonder what kind of paint they use. There is a very unusual kind of luminosity about it as if it will glow in the dark. It's good that the door is open in invitation as I don't think it would have the same impact had it been closed. The drain is also an important part of the composition, strange as that might seem. Very eye-catching monotone Henk. Good work
Kath

Hi Henk,
Great photojob in blue tones. Excellent POV and details. I like the open door and how you framed it.
TFS and have a nice week
Aires

Salaam Henk, labes ?
An open door is always an invitation to enter and due to the over blue dominant and these wall shapes it gives the feeling the world beyond is mysterious, different but I like it as well even though it's not as crisp as your digital shots.
Have a nice day JY

I don't know if you know :) but blue has always been my favorite color. I have to visit this place. Morocco is so near... This blue is really unbelievable. And pushed by that Velvia of yours it looks even more surreal. It's a great photo, very well composed. I just miss a person here, but hey, you know me. :) Like it a lot.

Hello Henk,

What a color for this door ! I like the fact that it is open !
You had to amuse you in these little lanes ! We have the impression that a way carries out under the ground or to the city and its mysteries !
A good blue photographs !

A+

Dominique

Hi Henk,
These blue details catch my attention on the gallery of Africa every now and then. And for sure makes me want to see them myself too. Opening of the door adds interest. And spreading of colour is quite humorous. It looks like they've used water cannon for painting!
Kari

hello Henk
I like very much this detail of the house. The blue is so beautiful and the small door so lovely! The fact that this door is opened gives some depth to the photo and make this detail stronger! If you have opened it yourself,it was a really good idea!;.) The colours given by the fuji velvia are decidedly splendid!
Have a nice day.
Pascale

Hello Henk,
Although man made electric boxes, cables and the metal drainage cover in front, you've succeded to capture a mystic gate to heaven. The tone of blue is very calming.
I liked the elegant framing too.
regards
Sibel

H: yes, Henk, years ago I visited the Atlas hamlet. What a great town for color as evidenced by this flawless still-life - right on. regards, caleb

hi henk,
very fine capture, the blue is : Color of the 5th chakra. symbol of the communication, the creativity, the tranquillity. i think it fits well with you.

best regards

Hi Henk,
This is certainly an eye catching shot with this vivid and saturated blue. Doors are some of my favourite subjects and this one is great and I like that it is slightly open too. I am trying to decide between Morocco or Mexico for my next trip, and your shot is very inspirational.
Regards
Wanda

Hoi Henk!

Groet! Dennis

Hola Henk.
Nice composition in blue tones, very good photojob giving us a different style from your usual shots, it looks interesting and mysterious with the open door. Sharpness is very good as we can see great details in the door's nails and sewer system.
I just came back from my vacation, hope you had a nice holidays.
Best wishes.
Your good friend.

Good Morning Henk,

I'm assuming that this is ice? The blue tones make it look so so cold. I don't know much about Morocco but i always assumed it was hot as hell and lots of desserts.

As for the picture, you really captured all the highlights and shadows within the wall very well. Having the door slightly ajar really makes the shot work as well. I've noticed that door and window shots are very popular on TE yet nothing to this level.

Regards,

Mel

leuk berghuisje,
groet Jaap

Henk,
I just critiqued another shot and commented about the advantages of the blue hour. However, this one beats all of the TE shots in blue hour. First impression was that you tweaked around with you WB until you got into the tungsten region, but than I saw the green details on the little roof and concluded that it must be real.
Another thing that passed through my mind when I saw the image in thumbnail that somethingmust be wrong. This can't be an original "floydian". It looks so different and that is exactly the best thing of this shot. You are presenting something and telling us that you're not just the "monster" in landscape and motorsport. You can offer anything and here is the proof.
Obviously you didn't have any local character to coming out of this door. Still a good shot.
Cheers, Peter

Fijne avond, and thanks as usual for showing us The Light!
Ciao,
Fulvio.

This one is all about colour, and what fantastic colour it is! The blue is overwhelming, and I can only imagine what it is like to walk these narrow streets and drink it all in. I have to visit this place one day. Nicely done!

Hello Henk,
Amazing blue. The tight vertical composition is excellent of course, but I can't get over the color here. Incidentally, Velvia 50 is the new film that Fuji put out last year to replace the old Velvia. Best wishes,
Hakan

With it's stark riveted metal door this looks like a bunker. Is this construction for harsh weather protection or for some other purpose?

Happy New Year to you too Henk. I wonder why you decided to give your pic this title?! You appear to have managed exposure well which looks pretty tricky. An original shot.
Best wishes
Mark

Henk,
Very eyecatcher blue dominant.
I like how the thumbnail catch the eye in the gallery.
Beautiful, a pleasant mood, with some details to see into this monochromatic appearance.
Regards,
JB.

Bonsoir Henk

Hi Henk. I went there some years ago and remembered the 'blue' motif - but this is blue on steroids! Amazing colour. Love the fact that the door is ajar as, if it were closed, the shot could have looked two dimensional.
Really nice work. Regards, Paul.

Hi Henk,
Wonderful blue vivid door entrance.
TFS,
Corinne

Dag, Henk.

Fantastic blue and perfect framing...
Just from simple subject and you make it great, very well done Henk. tfs

daniel

Hello Henk,
I have seen photos taken of these amazing structures. I don't believe that there are any like them in the entire world. Without the blue walls the images would not be nearly as interesting. Velvia was the right choice for this shot. This bizarre street scene is fascinating to look at and beautifully composed. This is another fine addition to your outstanding, multi-faceted photo gallery!

Goedendag my dear Henk,
Yes it is not your usual style here, at least the one we are used to see on TE, but I like this kind of close up pictures a lot.
And when executed by you, we can dicover all the nice materials and plays of light nearly turning this beautiful image into a painting.
Very good work where Velvia can be at its top.
Have a nice day.
Best regards, Christian

this one remind me of valeria work ;D
strong picture..this blue is amazing ...has so much power
something different in your gallery ...and a good chooise i must confess
thanks sharing

Dag Henk,

Bedankt.

Groeten uit Vlaanderen,
John.

fantastic one, with excellent quality, POV and light well managed.
thanks, ciao

Hi Henk
I like the idea of this open door. The blue color is probably too saturated, or not enought. But for me it doesn't work well. Or i don't understand something
This one is not your best.
Have a nice day.

hello Henk, this photo from you change totality... blue harmony is very nice, from Morocco its usual like color, and Grecia also, superb vertical shot, i like this door and i would like that its behind...

For a second the strong blue tones made me think of the Ice hotel... a little off I would say :) The top portion looks a little overexposed but on the other hand I like the feel it adds to the overall image.
Cheers,
Enrique
PS When you visit NY, try to get access to any building and go not to the top floor, something like the 27th... the view is spectacular!

Hi Henk,
Very surreal dreamy shade of blue, looks like a set in the movie "Lord of The Rings." The little bit of green on the roof is a very charming element to go along with the inviting opened door.

A bit late on this one. Very unique monochrome, the colour makes it stand out in such a strong way. I like very much the half opened door getting us into darkness. Black behind the blue, some mysterious worl behind. Very clerverly composed. I like it.

Hi Henk
Great blue colours and frame...
Good POV and details...
Excellent work...
TFS/Regards

Excellent scan quality, captures the distinctive color and textures of this little city I know, a dog or cat sleeping (and covering) the unsightly water drain would have been fantastic.

Hello Henk!
Really lovely blue composition and perfect perspective!
Excellent done, like always!
Best regards!

Hello Henk

A very unusual scene.Being a simple element, without doubts the deep tonality of the blue one, establishes a beautiful composition.

The obtained balance is I magnify, congratulations

John

Hi Henk,
Going through the latest shots in your gallery, I was immediately attracted by this one because, as André says, it stands out against the rest of your photos. I've only been to Marrakech when I traveled to Morocco, but it's a coutry I defintely would like to visit more extensively.
The blue color of the door makes the photo attractive, but I particulary appreciate the way you've included the grid in the foreground and also those small "boxes" on the top left. An oldie that has really maintained all of its original quality!
Have a nice day.
Brigitte

hello, blue-Henk,
a nice original picture in your gallery, and a nice one!
just a pity that the have put these electrical boxes (or whatever) to the left of the door.
