[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
We saw this shepherd on the ride from Er Rachidia to Erfoud. He stood in a little shack to protect himself from the heavy rain. The sheep were standing around him and were trying to find some blades of grass or some other plants to eat. When we stopped with our car next to him, he went out of his shack and right to us. He only spoke a little bit French,no English, like many Moroccans, but I think he was quite happy at all to meet people who talked with him for a while because I think he didn´t have such a communicative day yet. To keep him in my memory I took this photo.
I hope you like it and can give me some good hints,
Jonas

WOW!!! This is really, REALLY beautiful. His face, his eyes tell a story. This is a man who has lived hard to make it through life. You presented it well. It must be a hard life being on your own day in, day out!
Very well done!

Hello Jonas. Excellent Sepia conversion with good contrast and saturation. I like the facial expression captured here and very interesting note. Well done and best regards. Jusni

Hi jonas
geiles Bild
grüße Toba

Jonas,
Excellent portriat of the shepherd. Great detail on the facial expression with so much charactor. I think this turn out great in sepia tone. Very good handle on the light. Congratulations!

Hi Jonas,

My mother knows Morocco, not me. And she spoke to me about the kindness of the Morrocans and in your note that is confirmed. Technically I find this portrait been successful. I like much framing on the face of this young shepherd. The image processing reinforces the features with its face. Cheer Jonas.

With all my friendships and a very good evening,

Jean-Charles

Impressive portrait, he seems to have a difficult life, well captured expression, good framing.

Andreea

Halo Jonas,

Regards.

Great choice of sepia, fantastic attitude you caught in this portrait. A top class picture.

Salaam Jonas,
Nice portrait, well off centered and with a strong expression not looking into the lens, I like this, the vintage PP is the extra creative touch, nice as well.
Have a nice day JY

Hello Jonas,
Good portrait qualities and a well balanced composition!
Good details and the skin tones are well reproduced, the intense eyes have probably seen a lot...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hello Jonas
His eyes are just great...deep & penetrating. I like your framing a lot, off-centre with space to look towards on the left. Focusing & shallow DOF is also first rate. Though I like your PP work here, I would also like to see the original to compare. Maybe this might look great in B&W as well. A fine capture, but I've done a small WS in Picassa, do let me know if you like it
Regards
Angshu

Best wishes,
Achim

I don't think you need any hints. I like the off-centre framing with the extra space on the side of his gaze so he is looking into the frame and not out of it. You also chose your DOF carefully so the background is out of focus and not a distraction. The sepia toned B&W works well for natural tones. Well done

Hello Jonas, this is a magnificent portrait,
good captured in a very opportune moment
in which the shepherd was distracted,
surely watching his sheeps.
I like this penetrating look that
transmits a natural serenity of a free man.
The tone cuttlefish is very well
select and gives him to the composition
a very special delight.

Congratulations for the good work and thanks for your visit.

Un saludo y buenas noches.

Fantastic portrait, however I would prefer it a little bit sharper. Sepia was a very good choice - in my opinion better than B&W - it makes this picture deep in communication, as I'll allow myself to use a weird metaphor:)
Regards,
KJ

I really like the simple intensity of this portrait - the suspended and subtle action and tension of his face is so well caught and tells us something profound about the moment and your proximity and relationship to him - it is a beautiful image without being classically beautiful - it is beautiful because it is so revealing about human experience and how we become who we are. Wonderful!

best wishes Kev
